Leeds Rhinos have today announced the departure of 20 year old Danny Allan after both parties agreed a mutual termination of the loose forwards contract to allow him to seek first team rugby elsewhere.

Allan made five appearances during the 2009 season in the first two months of the campaign but has not featured since. He started 18 of the Reserve Academy's 23 games this season scoring an impressive 13 tries in the process. He made his debut for the Rhinos in the 2008 season against Celtic Crusaders in the Carnegie Challenge Cup.

Allan had been contracted until the end of the 2011 season however with England internationals Kevin Sinfield and Danny McGuire in his chosen positions, the club have agreed to mutually terminate the remaining two years of his contract.

Commenting on the announcement Chief Executive Gary Hetherington said, "We have had a good chat with Danny and fully appreciate his frustration. We are always keen to promote young talent and give those players the chance to play. We take the welfare of our players very seriously and we want to give Danny the best chance to fulfil his potential. As a result we have terminated his contract to enable him to explore his options."

Allan, who originally joined the Rhinos from the Heworth amateur club in York, commented, "I have enjoyed my time with the Rhinos but as a professional player it is obviously frustrating when you have world class players in front of you that restricts your ability to play first team rugby. I am now free to find a new club and a new challenge. I would like to thank everyone at the Rhinos for the help they have given me during my career and I wish the club every success in the future."
