Source: www.league.quins.co.ukHarlequins RL have boosted their squad with another star signing from the NRL. Following the capture of Sydney Roosters' Nick Kouparitsas, Manly back row forward Chris Bailey has agreed to join Quins for the 2011 season.
Chris began his distinguished career with the Balmain Tigers before making his NRL debut for the Newcastle Knights in 2006. Originally a stand off he moved into the back row and joined the Manly Sea Eagles in 2009 featuring in the 2009 World Club Challenge against the Leeds Rhinos.
"I am very excited about signing for Harlequins Rugby League and looking forward to life in London. I have spoken extensively with Acting Head Coach, Rob Powell, about this opportunity and I have been very impressed with the ethos of the club and where they want to be in terms of Super League and developing home-grown players. Hopefully, I can join the other experienced squad members and help the club achieve their goals," said Bailey.
Harlequins RL's Acting Head Coach, Rob Powell commented: "This is a massive signing for the club, Chris comes with a high profile and a proven track record in the NRL. He is a game breaker with fantastic ball playing and running qualities who matches this with being a really strong defender. This means he is comfortable either in a role as a back rower, on the edge, or as a stand off. The Super league will suit his style and he will add a lot of experience to our squad. We are looking forward to welcoming him to London."
The 28-year-old, younger brother of Wigan's Phil Bailey, is looking to join the London club for their pre-season training next month.

Source: www.manlyseaeagles.com.auThe Manly Sea Eagles have released utility player Chris Bailey from the final season of his contract to allow him to sign a three year deal in the English Super League with the London Harlequins.
Bailey joined Manly from the Newcastle Knights in 2009 and played 46 games in his two seasons with the club.
He has played five eighth, centre, lock and second row with the Sea Eagles.
Manly coach Des Hasler said the club was reluctantly releasing Bailey from the final season of his contract.
"Because of salary cap restraints we couldn't offer Chris Bailey a future beyond next season but this opportunity gives him an exciting extension to his career.
"In his two seasons with Manly he has been a tremendous asset to our club and he goes with our best wishes. He is a terrific player to coach and his ability to play anywhere benefits any club he joins," Hasler said.
Bailey said he would have liked to have had another season at Manly but couldn't pass up the opportunity to miss out on the chance to extend his career in England.
The 28-year-old said he had enjoyed his two seasons at Manly.
"They are a great club and I have made lots of close mates among the playing group. I wish them well for the future and will be following their progress closely," Bailey said.
Bailey will replace a former Manly player - Luke Williamson - at the London based club. Williamson retired recently after a long career at Canberra, Adelaide and Manly.
