Thu March 29, 2007 Source: www.melbournestorm.com.auMelbourne Storm has secured the immediate future of Will Chambers, with the promising young centre committing to the club until the end of the 2009 season. After an outstanding pre-season on the training track, and an impressive two-try performance in the trial game against the Gold Coast, Chambers was only too happy to put pen to paper on a contract extension. "I'm really pleased to be here for three more years under Craig Bellamy," said Chambers. "I've learnt so much in the off-season from the players and coaching staff here and I can't wait to get a game with the NRL team."Chambers rejected offers from the Brisbane Broncos and North Queensland Cowboys to remain in Melbourne. "I never really wanted to leave, I love living here. The club's been great to me over the past two years and I'm just glad I've got a chance to repay the faith they showed in me," said Chambers. Storm Recruitment Manager Peter O'Sullivan is delighted Chambers has decided to remain at the Storm. "We're very pleased to have secured Will's services for the next three years," said O'Sullivan. "Will falls into line with our recruitment policy of signing our core young players to long term contracts to ensure the ongoing success of Melbourne Storm."Head Coach Craig Bellamy knows what a talented player Chambers is, and can see the potential he has. "Will's training in the off-season was outstanding and if he keeps training the way he does, he will soon get his chance to show what he can do in first-grade," said Bellamy.
