Feathersone Rovers have launched a dedicated fundraising campaign to support Tangi Ropati.

Tangi suffered a serious injury during our Carnegie Challenge Cup victory against Castleford Tigers. Ropati was rushed to hospital following the game where it was confirmed that he had broken his jaw in two places and required surgery inserting three plates in to his face.

The club has fielded a number of requests from sponsors and supporters of Featherstone Rovers and other clubs asking how they can help Tangi during this difficult time. In response, we have set up the "Tangi Ropati Support Fund".

Samoan International Tangi Ropati's VISA is conditional that he can only earn a living from playing Rugby League for Featherstone Rovers. The injury, resulting in Ropati unable to play Rugby League means that his income is significantly reduced during this period.

In an unprecedented step, all of Tangi Ropati's team mates have donated a percentage of their win bonus against Castleford Tigers to kick start the fund.

Rovers' Commercial manager Paul Taylor said;

"The club has been inundated with people sending messages of support to Tangi and asking how they can support him during his recovery. The win against Castleford Tigers will live long in the memory but we have to remember the sacrifices players make every week when they go over that white line for our entertainment."

Chase suspended for three matches for broken jaw incident

Stobart Super League Man of Steel Rangi Chase has been handed a three-match ban for the challenge that left Featherstone Rovers winger Tangi Ropati with a broken jaw.

Ropati, who previously played for Sheffield Eagles and Widnes Vikings has had his jaw plated after breaking it in two places and is facing 10-12 weeks out of the game.

Chase was ordered to face the Rugby Football League's disciplinary committee after being put on report during Castleford's shock 23-16 Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth-round defeat against Featherstone on Saturday.

The England International from 2011 was found guilty of the grade C offence at a hearing in Leeds and was given a £300 fine in addition to a three-game ban.
