Petero Civoniceva will return to his favourite Broncos number 10 jersey against the Newcastle Knights on Friday.

Coach Anthony Griffin this morning named the 35-year-old veteran to replace Corey Parker in the Broncos' starting line-up.

Parker had thumb surgery yesterday and is out for a month.

In a minor re-shuffle, Civoniceva joins Ben Hannant in the front row, with captain Sam Thaiday shifting back to his favoured second-row spot.

Ben Te'o will fill the breech at lock.

The new man in the team is prop Scott Anderson.

Anderson had a strong trial season before injuring his back doing weights just two days before the round-one win over the Eels.

He played Queensland Cup for Norths at the weekend and impressed enough to return to the NRL.

Petero Civoniceva will play his first game for the Broncos in five years from the bench this Friday.

Coach Anthony Griffin today named Civoniceva in the no.17 jersey to replace last week's debutant Nick Slyney.

Civoniceva missed the round-one victory over the Eels through suspension.

But after leaving the club in 2007 for a four-year stint at the Panthers, Civoniceva will finally be back in the maroon and gold in front of a packed stadium on friday.

Sam Thaiday will start the game at prop again but is likely to move to the edge when Civoniceva runs onto the field early in the match.

Ben Te'o will against start at second row after impressing alongside Alex Glenn last week.

Front rower Scott Anderson is still out with a back injury.
