Farah re-signs with Wests Tigers
Wed October 4, 2006
by Matthew O'Neill
Wests Tigers have received a massive boost with outstanding young hooker Robbie Farah signing a three-year extension on top of his current deal to remain with the 2005 Premiers until the end of 2010.

Farah who was due to be off contract at the end of next season was already attracting interest from plenty of clubs with the Bulldogs rumoured to be one of the clubs he was linked towards. Farah hailed from the Canterbury-Bankstown Junior League before his club Enfield Federals folded and has said on numerous occasions that his favourite footballer when growing up was former Bulldogs captain Terry Lamb.

The 22-year-old has emerged as a potential NSW and Australian hooker of the future and was recently selected in the Prime Ministers XIII clash ahead of Luke Priddis with both players selected in the Train-On Squad. Farah is probably the next in line after Danny Buderus for a place in the New South Wales side but has Cameron Smith and Shaun Berrigan from Queensland to compete against when it comes to International honours.

Farah said of his re-signing, "As long as I'm happy with the club, there's no need to move. Dollars aren't everything. I've had great times at the club. I won a comp last year, and that brought us all a bit closer. I've been under Tim Sheens all my first-grade career, and I see myself developing under his guidance. It'd be very hard to leave the club."

It caps off a good work for Farah after also taking out the Wests Tigers Player of the Year award.

Wests Tigers after a tough season defending the Premiership had had good news of late with Dean Collis signing a two-year extension to remain with the Tigers until the end of the 2009 season.

Collis said, "Wests Tigers is a great club and I am looking forward to being part of this exciting, young team in the next few years.

"My football has improved immensely under coach Tim Sheens and I want to further develop my skills under him. There are plenty of good times ahead for this club and it is great to know that I will be a part of it.''

Collis was one of four Wests Tigers players to play all 24 games in 2006, scoring nine tries and further enhancing his reputation as a fine young player in his first full season in the top grade.
