Cunningham said, "It is a dream come true, everybody in Hull talks about it and dreams about it and to be paid to do something you love like Rugby League is just brilliant.
"It is an opportunity that I know I am very lucky to have and something I will work as hard as I can to make the most of."
It has been an eventful 12 months for Cunningham, including his first-team debut against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan in France.
"It has been an amazing time with Hull and what a great year. I was named as captain of the 20's, got a squad number, then made my debut in France and now a full-time deal, its just amazing," he said excitedly.
Cunningham is one player who could well be a star of the future. His performances at loose forward in the U20's have been superb throughout 2010, while he has impressed as a leader on the park.
Hull FC head coach Richard Agar has certainly been taking note of the youngster' s form and he knows they have a talented individual.
"Cunno is a good young professional, who understands what the game is about and what is required of him as a player," said Agar.
"He is level headed and a hard worker and has impressed us all with his contributions to the U20's this season.
"We had no hesitancy in throwing him in against Catalans and he has had a taste of the action now and I am sure that will have whet his appetite for more, so it is up to him to take the chance."
Cunningham also added, "I am going to squeeze everything out of the chance and really go for it. My aim is to be playing week in-week out and it all starts from now.
"I need to get my fitness up, get bigger and stronger and have a really good pre-season and we'll go from there," he said.
