Diskin looking for 'Magic' result

Bulls skipper Matt Diskin is hoping for a 'Magic' result when the Bulls come up against his former club Leeds Rhinos on Sunday 27th May at the Ethiad Stadium, Manchester.

The Bulls have never beaten the Rhinos in three previous attempts in the 'Magic' format and Diskin is relishing the prospect of facing the Bulls closest rivals this time.

"Every time you face Leeds it is always very competitive and you always want to put one over on them. The fact that we have never beaten them is something that is a surprise to me as I was unaware of it. I suppose playing for both sides I didn't quite realise Leeds had the upper hand in all three meetings. It's something we want to try and rectify. We have had a couple of good results against Leeds in our last two games and we are certainly going into this year's fixture full of confidence."

There have been a couple of very close calls in that time with last season's last minute defeat, in Diskin's debut for the Bulls particularly galling.

"There have certainly been some close calls where the games could have gone either way and last year's was one of those. There has been some controversies in the two close games too and that all adds to the 'Magic'! I have been lucky to have had a foot in both camps over the years and I know just what it means to the clubs, the players and the supporters of both teams. It's going to be close, it's going to be hard fought, full of passion and it's something everyone is going to enjoy."

Diskin, who will take part in a Magic Weekend Forum hosted by Radio Leeds on Wednesday 16th May at 18:00, is hoping that supporters will buy into the concept of the Magic Weekend, particularly as it is in Manchester this time.

"I am hoping the supporters will really identify with the concept. It's a tremendous vehicle for our sport and not one that any other sport could achieve. I hope the supporters will come along and watch all the games and not just their own as a full stadium will show everyone just what a great spectacle Super League is."

Disking has fond memories of his time at Leeds but is a fully fledged Bull now, something that is not lost on him.

"I had twelve great years at Leeds and I cherish every memory but I have moved on now and I am very proud and passionate about the Bulls and I am really honoured to be Captaining them this season. This Derby is a massive game and for me to be able to get one over on my own club would be tremendous."

Mick Potter has broken with Bulls tradition by naming both Heath L'Estrange and Matt Diskin as joint Captains for the 2012 season.

L'Estrange, formerly with Manly is in his third season with the club whilst former Gt Britain Hooker Diskin joined the club from Leeds Rhinos at the start of last season.

Commenting on his decision Mick Potter said:

"I am really happy with these appointments. Matt Diskin brings a calm and calculated approach on the field and is a thorough professional, whilst Heath is very enthusiastic with great leadership qualities. By naming them both we will have a natural leader, in the position that touches the ball the most, on the field throughout the game."
