Source: www.hullfc.comProp forward Ewan Dowes has ended speculation about his future by putting pen to paper on a new one-year deal with the Black and Whites.
After lengthy discussions a deal has finally been sought that suits both club and player and Dowes is delighted to extend his stay with the Black and Whites.
"I am really happy to have signed again, it is a great club with a proud history and plenty of ambition and I want to be part of that," he said.
"There is a great bunch of lads at the club and some talented young coaches and I have made some good friends here."
He added, "When you have been at a club for eight years it is very hard to turn your back on them and during that time I have some really good memories, two Cup Finals and a Grand Final and I think, as a lot of the lads do, that we have a real chance of doing that again.
"My target now is to get back to my best form and play my part for the team and I have the perfect incentive in looking to extend my stay again after the new season is out."
Hull FC head coach, Richard Agar, also commented, "Ewan has been a consummate professional and committed performer during his time at the club and a good servant to Hull FC.
"It was a good deal for us in which we have retained a player with vast experience and a passion for the club."
He added, "As we continue to build year on year, it is important we find the right balance between experience and youth and Ewan fits that structure."
Dowes signed for Hull in 2003 having spent his early years as the first ever-pro player to hold a dual code registration with Leeds Rhinos and Rugby Union side, Leeds Tykes.
The Cumbrian born player is third highest on the club's appearance list for members of the current squad having played 217 games for the Black and Whites, scoring 9 tries.
In 2010 he missed only two matches in the whole season, but despite finishing the pre-season campaign as the club's leading try scorer, he didn't find his way over the line in the season proper!
Dowes is one of only four players remaining in the current side who were part of the squad that last tasted glory in the 2005 Challenge Cup Final.

Source: www.hullfc.comAll girl pop group 'Project A' are certainly showing that rugby league really does have the X Factor.
The foursome from Leeds are currently appearing on the hit ITV show the X Factor and after being whittled down to the final 24 they will feature on Saturday's show at the judges homes.
The rugby league connection is quite a strong one as all the girls met through cheerleading at the Leeds Rhinos three years ago, while one of the girls, Amy Burrow, is also the partner of Hull FC star Ewan Dowes.
As well as that, they also faced a daunting debut gig when they performed in front of 32,000 people at the World Club Challenge at Elland Road last year.
Dowes admits he has been pretty impressed with the girl's progress, "They are quality, I have watched them from the start to now and the progression they have made is phenomenal.
"We had a bit of a private family showing for a few of us the other day and I just sat there and thought they really are the complete article now.
"They are a quality group and still getting better."
All the girls are proud of their northern routes and particularly those that stem from rugby league.
Dowes' partner Amy knows it has played a big part in getting them this far.
"The support of the fans so far has really encouraged us," she said.
"Rugby league is a really close supportive community and we feel we have that same sense of support for each other and it has helped with our positive thinking."
Aside from the other three girls, Amy is very much a rugby league WAG, but it is not exactly the glamorous life of Posh and Becks!
"We have become like passing ships sometimes this season," referring to the lack of time with rugby star Ewan.
"We are both just so busy and we have to wait until the off season of the rugby before we really manage to get some time together.
"However, when we do get time to go away we will always go somewhere nice and exotic and get some quality time together, it is great to see him and he is so supportive."
It also seems that it's not just Amy that has a passion for singing, as Ewan himself has been known to take the odd turn behind the mic.
After a confident performance at teammate Richard Horne's RL Factor earlier this season, Dowes showed some of his star quality and it has even impressed his X Factor partner.
"Ewan has a great voice and he did really well in the RL Factor," said Amy
"He has been really supportive of us and he is really proud, in fact, before X Factor he did become known as DJ Dowes!"
Why? Well it seems rugby isn't necessarily Dowes' only passion!
"DJ Dowes, they gave me that name a while ago and to be fair I think it was just to help me be part of the group," said the Hull forward.
"It's clear following my performance at the RL Factor, where I ripped it up and was unlucky not to win, I could well become the 5th member of Project A!
Away from Amy and Ewan, the rest of the girls are also closely linked to rugby league.
As big fans of the game and still passionate cheerleaders, Project A hope their success can help boost the profile of the sport and talent from Yorkshire.
Nevertheless, they have to admit, if they are to realise their ambitions, cheerleading might just have to fall on to the back burner.
"We have had an amazing experience so far and we obviously want it to continue, we want to make the live shows and we just love every minute!" said singer Amy
"We are just four Yorkshire girls doing something we love, the cheerleading was just as much fun, but if we are to reach our goal it will take a lot of time, so hopefully Leeds won't mind us missing a few games!"
Project A- Amy Burrow, Laura Henderson, Lauren Green and Lucy Graham.
