Civoniceva and Elford sidelined with injury

Panthers Captain, Petero Civoniceva will be sidelined indefinitely with a fractured right hand.

Civoniceva sustained the injury during Wednesday's night Origin clash while playing for Queensland to go one up in the three game series.
X-rays late yesterday revealed a fracture that will keep him from playing until it fully heals.

In other news, winger Shane Elford has been ruled out after tearing his cruciate ligament (right knee) in the dying minutes of Monday night's game against the Bulldogs.

Blair and Elford extend Panthers contracts

Panthers CEO Michael Leary has extended the contracts of Maurice Blair and Shane Elford today.

Both Blair and Elford were off contract at the end of this season however both players have agreed to terms for another year with the club.

Elford played his last game for the club in Round 22 against the Dragons where he suffered a broken eye socket - it was feared he may have played his last NRL game.

"It's a positive step forward re-signing these two players," Leary said.

"It's a positive move that is able to keep the playing group together for another season."
