Thu July 6, 2006 Source: www.weststigers.com.auWests Tigers have continued their solid build up for the 2007 signing Penrith centre Danny Galea for the next three years. Galea has played 59 first grade games for the Panthers since making his debut against Newcastle in July, 2002. The 22-year-old is no relation to current Wests Tigers forward Ben Galea, who ironically is a Penrith Junior from the Blacktown Workers club. Wests Tigers Recruitment Manager Manager Warren McConnell said, "We see Danny as a running second-rower who can still play in the centres if need be.
"The club has a great youth policy and Galea will be one of several top young players here at the Wests Tigers next season.
"Blokes like Dean Collis, Robbie Farah, Liam Fulton, Keith Galloway, Bryce Gibbs, Benji Marshall, Bronson Harrison and Shannon McDonnell are all under the age of 23, so it is a very exciting time ahead for the Wests Tigers.''Galea said, "Wests Tigers play a very, exciting brand of football and have a good, strong pack of forwards.
"I am looking forward to the new challenge and know my football will further improve under the coaching of Tim Sheens.''
Meanwile in other news, Wests Tigers have re-signed winger Taniela Tuiaki for a further two years. Tuiaki has been impressive in the seven matches he's played at NRL level this year where he's scored four tries.
McConnell said, "Tim sees Taniela's long term future in the forwards even though he has been performing quite well on the wing.''
