More Golden Years at Quins
Mon September 13, 2010

Harlequins back rower Jason Golden has committed his immediate future to the club by signing a new two year deal.

The former Leeds Academy, York City Knights and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats player joined Quins RL at the beginning of the 2009 season and has proved to be a key member of the squad over the last two seasons.

A tough-tackling, hard-grafting forward, Golden has enjoyed his time in London and is happy to be extending his stay. "It's a great club with an awesome set of players. I love playing for Harlequins RL and I want to help to take the club to where we deserve to be."

Following his signing in 2009, the 24-year-old Yorkshireman missed much of pre-season training with a wrist injury but soon became a regular squad member, making 24 first team appearances. Golden also proved an excellent ambassador for the club off the pitch and was subsequently named 2009 Community Player of the Year. At the end of the season he was called up to the Ireland national squad for the 2009 European Cup.

In 2010 he made 18 first team appearances and is the first of a raft of Harlequins Rugby League players who will be signing new deals after chairman David Hughes assured the future of the club.

Assistant coach Rob Powell said: "It's fantastic news that Jason has re-signed, he is an integral part of the team and a great person to have around the club. I look forward to watching him play next year and getting the best out of him at the top level in Super League."
