Souths re-sign Gordon, Talanoa, Paea
Tue May 29, 2007
Source: www.souths.com.au

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have extended the contracts of three local juniors today, with Yileen Gordon re-signing for a further two seasons, and Fetuli Talanoa and Eddie Paea earning a further year with the Club.

Gordon, 20, has played 24 NRL games for the Rabbitohs after having made his debut for the Rabbitohs against the Bulldogs in 2005. Gordon came to the senior ranks from Alexandria Rovers, and has represented the Junior Kangaroos in 2005.

Talanoa, 19, made his first grade debut late in 2006 against the Sea Eagles, having played four NRL matches to date. A local junior from the Mascot Jets, Talanoa excelled in the Rabbitohs' junior grades to earn his first grade position. He also represented Tonga in 2005 and 2006.

Paea, 19, represented NSW under 19s in the curtain-raiser to the opening State of Origin match last Wednesday, and made his NRL debut against the Wests Tigers in the final round of the 2006 season. Paea also emanated from the Mascot Jets junior nursery and is seen as a future leader at the Rabbitohs.

"We have made a commitment as a Club to help develop our own local juniors and bring them through the ranks to the NRL level, and these signings are examples of that," Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said today.

"Yileen, Fetuli and Eddie are all outstanding talents, have all played first grade by the age of 18, and it's players like these three that we see as the future of our Club. We are delighted that they have agreed to extend their careers at our Club."

MacDougall to miss Roosters clash
Fri March 10, 2006
by Matthew O'Neill
Former International Adam MacDougall will miss South Sydney's opening round clash against arch-rivals Sydney Roosters due to an ankle injury.

MacDougall's career has been plagued by injuries where he has missed more games than he has played since his debut with the Roosters back in 1995. At his best MacDougall was one of the most destructive wingers in his hey day who would regularly get on top and intimidate Wendell Sailor.

Younger Yileen Gorden will take MacDougall's place in the Rabbitohs line-up after being named 18th man on Tuesday.

Sunday's clash between the 1908 clubs will be played at Telstra Stadium with kick off at 2:30pm. Tickets for this match are available through any Ticketek outlet, online at www.ticketek.com.au or on the phone by calling 132 849.
