Source: www.giantsrl.comHuddersfield Giants Prop forward Darrell Griffin is looking forward to tomorrow's West Yorkshire Derby against Wakefield Wildcats, which has extra spice for him as he is facing his former club and could also be lining up against his younger brother Josh, who has been named in the Wildcats 19 man squad.
Griffin said:
"Yeah it's always a great atmosphere against Wakefield and there is added spice for me. The Wakey fans always single me out for some stick and I still know a fair few of their players so there will be some extra banter on the field."And the 26 year old is looking to get back to winning ways in the West Yorkshire Derby:
"We've had a good weeks training and we've been working on bringing some consistency into our game. We can't wait to get back on the field at the Galpharm and hopefully get back to winning ways. We have a good record against the Wildcats recently but that is history and it goes out of the window. We need to be fully focussed on tomorrow's clash."And the barnstorming prop is pleased with his recent form including three tries in the last three games:
"I'm not renowned for my try scoring but it is going well for me at the moment. I'm carrying a few extra pounds and am a lot fitter so maybe this is getting me across the line."And what about the possibility of facing his brother Josh in the Wildcats line up?
"I'm not sure if he'll make the final seventeen this week but it would be good to play against him. All my family will be at the game so if he makes the team it would be a special occasion for them."GIANTS NEED TO BUILD PRESSURE- SHARPGiants Head Coach Jon Sharp will this week reinforce the message that his players need to build pressure and improve their kicking game as they seek to get back to winning ways at home, with Wakefield Wildcats the visitors to the Galpharm Stadium this Saturday (6.00pm).
"We can kick the ball a little bit better, we need to be a little bit more pro-active in that regard and I think our kickers will hold their hands up and say that they are not striking the ball as they would like. If we start kicking the ball better we will have better field position and ultimately that builds pressure on teams."Following long-term injuries to International wing men David Hodgson and Martin Aspinwall, the Giants have also lost fellow GB representative Stephen Wild and experienced Australian backs Shane Elford and Rod Jensen in recent weeks, with Sharp hopeful of some good news this week to bolster the Giants ranks.
"Last week we had 5 quality players out- 3 GB Internationals plus Shane Elford and Rod Jensen. It's a massive ask for us but looking at Elford and looking at Jensen they are both looking much better than they were last week and I'm hopeful for both of them being back and confident one will be back, at least."With the Giants having the chance this weekend to leapfrog their near neighbours Wakefield into 9th place, Sharp is aware they face a tough test against a Wildcats side who impressed in last weekends 16-2 win against Warrington, despite having numerous injury problems of their own.
"Wakefield respond to adversity well; I think the coach breeds that into them. They are a team that scraps for one another and I certainly think they did that against Warrington. Some of the guys that have come in for them have added real quality; Brough at the moment is playing really well and kicking the ball really well. He didn't play the week before so he went into the game nice and fresh. That helped Wakefield; the kicking game was superb against Warrington. We understand and we know that Wakefield are a team that work really hard for each other and we know that we have to be at our best to improve on what we have been doing."For ticketing information contact the Galpharm Stadium Ticket Office, which is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-12 midday. The Ticket Hotline is 0870 44 44 552. By purchasing prior to matchday a family of four (two adults and two children) can watch the game for just 33 pounds.

Source: www.giantsrl.comHuddersfield Giants prop forward Darrell Griffin is looking forward to the visit of Wakefield this Good Friday evening. It is the first time that Griffin has turned out against his former team and he can't wait to get stuck in.
"It's always good to go out against your old team and friends and it's good to see how much you've improved as a player.
"There will be some banter with the lads, but nothing too serious and I'm just really looking forward to it. It's going to be a big one for myself."Griffin has been in fine form so far this season and has been singled out for praise by Giants Head Coach Jon Sharp. He knows that it's not just an important game for himself:
"For the boys it's a massive game. We need to get that first win of the Super League XII. They've been flying high so far this year so it'll be a big test for us."Like all the other players and coaches Griffin is thankful for the confidence booster of last weekend's victory against York.
"Sunday's game was massive for us in terms of completing sets and scoring tries and just getting the ball over the line.
"Not scoring many has been our problem this season so after York we're going into the Wakefield game full of confidence."The Huddersfield Giants are giving away Cadbury's Creme Egg's to the first 300 junior Giants supporters who enter the Galpharm Stadium before the game. Supporters are reminded that children under 12 go free at the Giants. To reserve your ticket call the Giants Ticket Hotline on 0870 44 44 552.
