Source: www.bulldogs.com.auThe Bulldogs have re-signed 23 year old prop Jarrad Hickey for a further two years (2009-2010).
Another local junior to have come through St Christopher's, Hickey has played 42 first grade games for the Club and is regarded as another future leader both on and off the field.
An ambassador for the RSPCA and a regular visitor to local schools Hickey's commitment to working in the community was another key factor in the Bulldogs' decision to re-sign the powerhouse forward.
"We're delighted to be able to retain another local junior with a big future," said Bulldogs Chief Executive Officer Mr Todd Greenberg.
"His ability as a footballer and his willingness to make a difference off the field meant that retaining Jarrad was a priority for us, he's a quality bloke that we're pleased to be able to call a Bulldog."
Hickey says the decision was a fairly easy one.
"I had no intention of going anywhere else, I grew up in the area and started my football here and I'd love to finish off in the Blue and White as well," Hickey said.

Steve Folkes is not known for taking risks but tomorrow night he may be forced into taking his biggest selection gamble with Ben Roberts possibly included in the starting side to fill the left centre position with Sonny Bill Williams pushed into the pack.
Interchange forward Jarrad Hickey is struggling to be fit for tomorrow's danger clash against Canberra, which will force Folkes' hand into moving Williams back into the forwards where he belongs.
Roberts has played four matches for the Bulldogs this season with all of them at halfback and the Bulldogs winning the lot. Roberts showed in those games that he's an excellent elusive runner with speed to burn. It was Roberts who created the match-winning try for Mark O'Meley in the Golden Point victory against New Zealand and earlier this week on rleague.com, Roberts was tagged as the player who could be the Bulldogs X-Factor in the Finals, much like Johnathan Thurston in 2004.
It has been reported from the ball work this morning that Roberts looked sharp training in the centres and Folkes has been working hard to get the players motivated for tomorrow's clash with it being such an important and danger game. Canberra have been in very good, never lost to the Bulldogs at Telstra Stadium and haven't been as hard hit with key injuries.
Williams has been named in the centres but the likely reshuffle would be Williams to lock with Dallas McIlwain dropping back to the bench. Nate Myles would then start the match at prop and the reliable Chris Armit would work from the Interchange bench. Armit has been very effective for the Bulldogs coming off the bench and his role will no doubt be to tie up the dangerous Michael Weyman when he comes onto the field. Weyman ripped the Bulldogs to pieces in the Round 14 clash when the Bulldogs bench included Billy Ngawini and Ben Czislowski.
Moving Myles to the starting side would be an interesting move. Myles had an excellent State of Origin series for Queensland where he started in the final two matches and his form for the Bulldogs this year has been ineffective. The message is clear to Myles that he's an important player in the side and he has to lift his performance if the Bulldogs are to cause any damage in the Finals this year.
The Bulldogs bench would then have more variety to it with Armit being the reliable toiler who makes metres, makes tackles and has no mistakes in his game, Adam Perry who is a big match defender, Nick Kouparitsas who impressed against Penrith last week and is a neat ball player and in McIlwain they have someone who can make an impact as evident by his 75m try last week.
The possible selection of Roberts is probably the biggest big game gamble the Bulldogs have made since selecting rookie wingers Matthew Callinan in 1985 and Steve O'Brien in 1984 for the Finals and Grand Final. Callinan was superb against Steve Morris in the Grand Final and scored two tries the week before against Parramatta. O'Brien proved to be one of the few wingers who could contain the great Eric Grothe Snr and his intercept play against the odds in the 1984 Grand Final was the match winner and something out of the ordinary.
Folkes no doubt has faith in Roberts and his selection could be the make or break for the Bulldogs.
Canberra have won five out of six matches they've played at Telstra Stadium with their only loss ironically coming against South Sydney this year. The Raiders have won all three clashes at the Bulldogs at Telstra Stadium and the Bulldogs have never won a 'home' Finals match in the four they've hosted. Canberra deserve to enter the match as slight favourites and are boosted by the slow ticket sales to date with Bulldogs supporters staying away at present.
The match is all or nothing for Canberra and whilst the Bulldogs are assured of a second chance no matter the result. A loss for them will virtually be the end of their season as they desperately need a week off where they'll be boosted with Reni Maitua being back and every chance of Roy Asotasi re-appearing. It's unlikely that Willie Tonga or Tony Grimaldi will be back this year.
Likely Bulldogs team v Raiders: 1 Luke Patten, 2 Hazem El Masri, 3 Andrew Emelio, 18 Ben Roberts, 5 Matt Utai, 6 Daniel Holdsworth, 7 Brent Sherwin, 8 Mark O'Meley, 9 Corey Hughes, 16 Nate Myles, 11 Willie Mason, 12 Andrew Ryan [c], 4 Sonny Bill Williams. Subs: 10 Chris Armit, 13 Dallas McIlwain, 14 Nick Kouparitsas, 15 Adam Perry.
