Source: www.leedsrugby.comLeeds Rhinos second row Jamie Jones-Buchanan has agreed a new three year contract with the engage Super League Champions.
Jones-Buchanan, 26, is currently away with the Rhinos squad in Jacksonville in Florida as they prepare for their clash with Australian side South Sydney Rabbitohs on Saturday. However, his new contract is a major boost to the Rhinos plans for the defence of the title won at Old Trafford last October which begins with the visit of Hull KR to Headingley Carnegie for an all ticket clash on Saturday 2nd February.
Speaking from the club's training camp base in Jacksonville, Jones-Buchanan said,
"I am delighted to have agreed the new deal but there was no other club I want to play for. I have been here since I was 13, I am a Leeds lad and nothing gives me more pride than pulling on the Leeds shirt and playing at Headingley Carnegie.
"We have got a great squad here at Leeds and we want to build on the success of last year. The squad want to stay together and fulfill their potential and that is very exciting as a player, plus the club are always keen to help you develop as person. I am studying at Leeds Met for a degree and I will be coaching the club's U16 Foundation Academy this year so there are plenty of things to look forward to," added the second rower.
Commenting on the new deal Head Coach Brian McClennan said,
"I am really pleased for Jamie and the club that he has agreed a new contract. He is a great part of our squad, both on and off the field, and a true professional. He has represented his country and won two Grand Finals but there are hopefully even better times to come for him during his career."Leeds Rhinos will kick off their season against Hull KR on Saturday 2nd February in an all ticket clash and you can book your ticket 24 hours a day online.
The Headingley Carnegie ticket office will sell tickets up until 3pm on the day of the game, subject to availability, and fans must buy tickets for the specific area of the ground they wish to stand in. Tickets for the Hull KR game can be purchased in person from both the Rhinos and Hull KR ticket office or 24 hours a day online by

Source: www.leedsrugby.comEngland international Jamie Jones-Buchanan, 24, has signed a new two-year extension with Leeds Rhinos that will keep him at Headingley Carnegie until at least the end of 2008.
Jones-Buchanan, who joined the Rhinos from local amateur club Stanningley, has made 92 appearances for the club since making his debut in 1999. He was part of the Grand Final winning side in 2004 and a Carnegie World Club Challenge winner in 2005.
Commenting on the announcement Head Coach Tony Smith said,
"I'm delighted Jamie has agreed to a new contract extension at the club. He is a player who has worked his way up through the club to become one of the most consistent performers in the side. You can see from his performances that he is a proud Leeds lad, through and through, and gives his all for his club, the jersey and his team mates. Having already played for England, if he continues to improve who knows where he will finish off in representative terms and he certainly has a bright future ahead."Jones-Buchanan, who was due to be out of contract at the end of the season, added,
"I am really pleased to have signed the new contract and got it out of the way as soon as possible. The club were keen for me to concentrate on my rugby and now I am free to do that. Hopefully I can retain my place in the squad and continue to improve over the course of this season and the next two years.
"Every aspect of being a Leeds player is perfect for me, we have got great facilities and coaches, a fantastic squad of players, it is my home town club who I and my family have supported all our lives and the potential here is huge. The construction of the new Carnegie Stand shows that the club is progressing on and off the pitch and makes the Rhinos a club that most players aspire to play for.
"Fortunately, I started here as a youngster and I have been able to retain my place at the club. It is a privilege and honour to play for Leeds and hopefully I can repay the faith that the club has shown in me."News sent by:
