Source: www.giantsrl.comThe Huddersfield Giants popular number 2 is set to make his 100th Claret and Gold appearance if selected in either game over the busy Easter weekend schedule against Salford City on Friday (kick off 3.00pm) or Hull FC Easter Monday (kick off 3.00pm).
Michael Lawrence signed for the Huddersfield Giants from local Community Clubs Newsome Panthers making his debut at seventeen during the 2007 campaign and now the Easter weekend is set to see 'Bruno' break the hundred appearances milestone an achievement the former Panther is delighted with:
"The time has flown by and it is a really proud moment for me to be reaching a hundred appearances for my hometown club. Three or four years ago I would only of hoped about hitting that milestone so early but I am really happy I am there and it is a great achievement for me."
Along with being able to recall some memorable moments in his hundred appearances including a winning start to his career on his debut, Lawrence is excited over what the future may hold for the Huddersfield Giants:
"I have some extremely good memories about the games I have played in especially against the likes of Warrington and St Helens and the playoff games I have been fortunate enough to be involved in. I am also excited about what the future may hold for the current squad as we are on the verge of doing something special here and we are all focussed on achieving that goal, hopefully it will be in the near future."
The start to the Stobart Super League campaign has seen Lawrence play in all but two of the Claret and Gold's fixtures this season whilst playing in what used to be an unfamiliar role and he is reasonably happy about how things are shaping up so far:
"The start of the season saw me in and out of the squad, I played the first two games and then I missed a couple but currently I am back in. The transition into the pack is something I have enjoyed and I'm enjoying playing in the back row, I am just going to concentrate on improving and trying to keep my place in the team."
The hectic Easter period is upon us with all Super League clubs competing in three games over nine days, an occasion Lawrence isn't relishing but a timely return to the squad by some of the Giants marquee players including Captain Kevin Brown may be instrumental over a busy week:
"The Easter period is very tough on the body, there will be a lot of recovery including massages and ice baths between the fixtures just to try and get the body feeling ok for the next game. Kev is back and he is awesome for us, he is our team Captain a big leader on the field and he helps create a lot for us in attack. It's great to have him back and it will help us to be more dangerous going into the Salford game. We do have a large talented squad so that should help us through a busy Easter but at the moment we are just focussed on getting a result against Salford on Friday."

Source: www.giantsrl.comHuddersfield Giants 21 year old centre or back rower Michael Lawrence has signed a contract at the club to tie him to the Galpharm Stadium for the next five years. The powerful product of the Newsome Panthers club is a member of the England Knights squad and has already made 86 first team appearances for the claret and gold.
Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis says that as a home grown talent Lawrence was a key figure in the clubs long term strategy.
"The rules regarding the makeup of squads going forward means that locally produced players who have come through the ranks are critical to any potential success. When you have a player who is an England Knight and is very experienced in his age bracket then to keep him for the long term is an easy decision to make. Michael will get better and better at our club and for him to have long term security in what recent events show is an uncertain marketplace is great for him and his family. He has come through our academies and virtually by passed reserves to become a Super League regular which is great credit to him."
Giants Head Coach Nathan Brown was pleased to secure another player for the Giants long term:
"Michael is a local player whose game just keeps improving. Both at centre and in the back row he does a really good solid job and defensively he is an exceptional player. He is a good lad and a good role model for other young players. His training standards are high and his off field habits are as good as his on field habits. He works hard on his game and his commitment and effort cannot be doubted."
Michael Lawrence was pleased to secure his future at his home town club until the end of the 2016 Season:
"I'm really pleased that I've secured my future at the Giants. It is great to sign a long term deal alongside many of the other boys and it shows that the club want to keep the team together for the long term. This builds continuity and that bond and hopefully this can lead to some silverware.
"I am really proud to be continuing to play for my home town club, I am definitely happy here. I love Huddersfield, I never wanted to go anywhere else so I'm glad we could sort it all out. The fans are great for us with the numbers continuing to grow all the time. Our supporters play a massive part on a gameday and they're definitely our 14th man. With the Season Ticket deal Ken Davy has offered for next year I'd encourage everyone to take advantage of it. You won't find a bargain like that anywhere else in Super League.
