Karmichael Hunt Yellow For Comeback
Fri August 22, 2008
by Matthew O'Neill
Source: www.broncos.com.au

WOW Brisbane Broncos fullback Karmichael Hunt says he will have something else to think about when he makes his return from injury against the Gold Coast Titans tonight.

Both teams will run out onto Suncorp Stadium wearing fluorescent yellow socks as part of a testicular cancer awareness campaign.

The campaign was kicked off by Titans forward Brad Meyers earlier this week, after the international had a couple of mates diagnosed with the disease.

The Broncos were happy to get on board with the intitative, and Hunt said it would give the players reason to reflect before they go out in the big derby clash.

"You are normally pretty quiet and focussed before a game of this magnitude," said Hunt, who missed the Broncos' last game with a calf muscle injury.

"But as you are putting those yellow socks on, you will certainly have something else to think about.

"While it is a massive match for us, things like this remind you that there are important things in life other than football."

As part of the Hang On To Your Mates campaign, a simple SMS number has been set up to help raise funds through "TEXTY" support, where a simple text of name and suburb raises 50 cents each time. By texting 19711223* you can help support the fight against testicular cancer too.

Tonight's match will kick off at Suncorp at 7.30pm, with there still over 10,000 tickets available.

Mon February 26, 2007
Source: www.titans.com.au

Jetstar Gold Coast Titans players Brad Meyers and Mark Minichiello will miss this Friday nights final NRL trial against the Penrith Panthers at Carrara Stadium after suffering injuries during the Jetstar Titans win over Parramatta in Lismore on Saturday night.

Brad Meyers has a high ankle sprain and spend the next few weeks in rehabilitation with the team's medical staff ruling the former State of Origin and Test forward out of the NRL season opener against St George Illawarra at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday March 18.

Mark Minicheillo was today cleared of a break, however will miss Friday's match after injuring his thumb against the Eels. Mark is expected to be fit for the Jetstar Titans season opener.

Daniel Conn who underwent off season ankle surgery continues his rehabilitation work and is unavailable for Fridays clash.

Michael Hodgson will also miss the Panthers game, however has been cleared to resume full training after several weeks in the rehabilitation squad.

Meanwhile, League fans and Jetstar Gold Coast Titans supporters across Queensland will be able to grab a piece of rugby league history when limited edition Coke Zero and Titans branded cans roll off the production line on Tuesday 27th February.

The special release 375ml cans pay tribute to the National Rugby League's newest team from the Gold Coast.
