Source: www.qrl.com.auTHE Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles have appointed local league identity Dave Cordwell as the club's new head coach for 2012.
The successful business operator has been involved at the club since its inception as a board member and lower grade coach and will now take the reins of the Intrust Super Cup side.
"Dave is held in the highest regard by everyone in Sunshine Coast Rugby League and it's fitting that he now gets to take control of the Sea Eagles. He brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience and a real passion for our club and what we are trying to achieve," Sea Eagles CEO Justin Veivers said.
Cordwell had a distinguished playing career with Nambour, which included Sunshine Coast representative duties, and he is the current Sunshine Coast Junior President.
"I think it proves we are a pathway for not only players but coaches and staff as well. The response to Dave's appointment has been extremely positive with players and I am confident he will attract some exciting former coast juniors back to the nest," Veivers added.
Adam Mogg will coach his last game for the Sea Eagles this Saturday against the Easts Tigers.
"We need to thank Adam for a tremendous job. He's really laid a great platform for us to build on into the future," Veivers said.
The Sea Eagles are confident of retaining Nick Paterson and Brad Henderson in coaching roles for 2012.

Source: www.raiders.com.auCanberra Raiders centre Adam Mogg has announced today that he will retire from the NRL at the conclusion of the 2010 season, but is still hopeful of returning to rugby league this year.
A chronic knee injury has forced the former Queensland winger to cut his career one year short, but a recent arthroscopy on his knee may still give him the chance to play for the Raiders again this season.
An outstanding clubman, Mogg came to the Raiders from Parramatta in 2004 and has gone on to play over 100 NRL matches, including 96 for the Raiders. He departed the club at the end of 2006 to play for Les Catalans Dragons in the English Super League and returned to Canberra at the start of this season.
An emotional Mogg said the decision to retire came down to his knee not being able to sustain another tough NRL season and he had to do what is right for him and his family.
"I think my body has decided to retire on me. I've been pretty fortunate in my career to go through injury free, but the last four months my knee has been troubling me and I need to think about the quality of life after footy," Mogg said. "I have two kids and they're important to me and I want to make sure I can give them everything and not be injured for the rest of my life."
Mogg said he was keen to continue next year and was in negotiations with the Raiders, but decided he wouldn't be able to put in the quality work he has in his career to date.
"I wanted to play again and I spoke to Don Furner about it and we were getting close to a deal, but not being able to train the way I like has been frustrating and if I feel like I cant improve as a player there's no point in playing."
Still a chance to play this season Mogg said he would be fighting hard for a spot as the Raiders continued on in September and had high hopes for the team on Saturday night against Penrith.
"I'm going to do my best to make sure I can get back to full fitness and make myself available for selection," Mogg said. "It's a big game and they'll be working hard to win it and if I can come back and be a part of it I will."
Mogg said the next chapter of his life would involve a return to his home area north of the border in a bid to help his fellow NRL players and said he owed the game nothing after achieving plenty of accolades in his eight years at the top.
"I'll be moving back to Queensland at the end of the year and I have some goals I want to achieve with football along the lines of helping players with their money and helping them invest in property so I'm working on a few things at the moment," he said. "I'd love to be able to play for another 20 years, but I'm really happy with my career and I've played with some fantastic players and been lucky to play with this team and I can sit back for the next five or ten years and watch them reap the success.
"Playing for Queensland was up there along with making my debut and playing in a challenge cup final at Wembley as well," he said. "I've also been fortunate to play with some of the best players in the game and also some of the next bunch of best players as well."
