Warrington expect to have skipper Adrian Morley back for Sunday's Stobart Super League trip to Wakefield Trinity while long-term injury victims Stefan Ratchford and David Solomona are also close to returning to action.
Morley has been out since April with a neck injury and his anticipated return for last week's Carnegie Challenge Cup tie against Catalan Dragons in Perpignan was put on hold after he picked up a back injury in training.
"He jarred his back in training late last week," said Warrington coach Tony Smith.
"We were taking him to France but he had to pull him out. He thinks he'll be right but we'll give him a fitness test tomorrow."
Both utility back Ratchford, who damaged a shoulder in March, and back-row forward Solomona, who broke a leg during the club's pre-season training camp in Australia, have recovered fitness earlier than expected, with the former also set to play this weekend.
"Stefan is 100% and raring to go so I'm tempted to throw him in at the deep end," said Smith.
"He's rehabbed ahead of schedule but he's been back to the consultant and had all the strength testing and he's ready to go.
"He's looking good. He's been in full training for a couple of weeks and is looking sharp. He's jumping out of his skin to play."
The 34-year-old Solomona was not expected to return until July but has been given the go-ahead to resume full training and Smith expects him to be back playing next month.
"The first reports were July but he worked really hard," he said. "He's a strong guy and he's healed well. He's done all the right things. He's a real positive person."
The former Wakefield and Bradford Bulls forward is among a host of Warrington players out of contract at the end of the season and is determined to win a new deal.
"He's off contract at the end of the year so in a short period of time he's going to try and prove some points," added Smith. "That's extra motivation for him.
"For him to come back and almost start his season is quite exciting for us. He's got some of the X factor that not a lot of people in the game have got.
"We're all delighted for Dave because he's such a big influence on and off the field. He's a big part of our culture here and he has a big impact on us."
The return of the injured trio leaves only half-back Richie Myler and hooker Michael Monaghan on the casualty list.
Myler, originally sidelined with an abductor problem, is facing another two to three weeks out after undergoing a hernia operation while Monaghan is thought to be a week away from recovering from a knee injury.

Source: www.superleague.co.ukAdrian Morley celebrated his 400th club match by leading Warrington Wolves to the top of the Stobart Super League with a thrilling victory over previous leaders Huddersfield Giants.
Morley's opposite number Eorl Crabtree marked the 300th appearance of his career with a solo try, but it was not enough to maintain his side's impressive start to the season.
The Giants, who began the season with an away win over Wigan Warriors, threatened to avenge their 47-0 play-off defeat by the Wolves when they led 12-4 after 21 minutes, yet the visitors just about deserved the spoils.
Warrington, who gave a debut to former Leigh Centurions prop Chris Hill in the absence of England international Garreth Carvell through illness, made the best possible start, with left winger Chris Riley scoring the first of his two tries inside the first minute, taking Ryan Atkins' pass to finish clinically at the corner.
But they experienced some disruption, losing loose forward Simon Grix with a knee injury and his replacement Ben Harrison within four minutes, and Huddersfield stunned them with two tries in seven minutes.
Livewire hooker Luke Robinson twisted free of Michael Monaghan's attempted tackle to race clear and send scrum-half Danny Brough over with Crabtree then producing a devastating sidestep to crash over for a try on his landmark appearance.
Brough converted both tries to make it 12-4 but Atkins and Richie Myler combined to get Riley over for his second and the visitors drew level nine minutes before half-time when centre Chris Bridge scythed through a back-pedalling defence to finish off a period of prolonged pressure.
Lee Briers, who took over the goalkicking after Ben Westwood failed with his first two attempts, converted Bridge's try to edge his side into a 14-12 interval lead.
The Giants conceded too many penalties for coach Nathan Brown's liking and they had Tommy Lee put on report on the stroke of half-time for a high tackle on Briers.
Huddersfield captain Kevin Brown was also placed on report early in the second half after appearing to lead with his elbow and referee Phil Bentham was forced to speak to both skippers in an effort to calm tempers.
In the meantime, play continued to flow from end to end, with the lead changing hands twice early in the second half.
Huddersfield second rower Jason Chan, who was denied a try in the first half after being unable to ground the ball over the line, made sure this time after taking a short pass from Lee on the burst to restore his side's lead.
The Giants could not hang onto their advantage, however, as the Wolves struck a purple patch.
Right winger Joel Monaghan plucked Ben Westwood's floated pass out of the air to touch down and substitute Matty Blythe was first to reach Briers' clever stabbed kick on the last tackle.
Briers added both conversions to make it 26-16 but Huddersfield gave themselves renewed hope when full-back Greg Eden forced his way over for his side's fourth try and Brough's third goal cut the deficit to just four points.
The Yorkshiremen had chances to snatch victory but their hopes were finally dashed when Westwood had the ball ripped out of his grasp by Joe Wardle and Myler scooped up possession to race over for the decisive try, with Briers kicking his fourth goal from as many attempts.
