Hull FC seal O'Carroll deal
Wed September 7, 2011
Source: www.hullfc.com

Hull FC have continued to signal their intent to their Super League rivals with yet another signing for 2012 after it was confirmed that powerful forward Eamon O'Carroll will be joining the club.

The tough and hard working prop, who has strong attributes in both attack and defence, becomes Hull's fifth signing ahead of next season after agreeing a three-year deal and the Ireland international will certainly bolster their front row.

Speaking to www.hullfc.com, O'Carroll couldn't hide his excitement at the move.

"To be joining a club like Hull FC is massive. They are a huge club with a great history and a great fan base and I am very privileged to be joining them," he said.

"I am looking forward to getting over there and getting into pre-season and it is a move that really excites me, so I can't wait to get started.

"They are a club with big ambitions and hopefully I can play my part in helping them achieve some of those."

Currently at reigning champions Wigan Warriors, where he progressed through their academy ranks before staking a claim as a first-team regular from 2006, O'Carroll was an instant hit in Super League and admired by the fans for his committed approach to the game.

That was quite apparent during his early hit ups for the Warriors, including a memorable challenge on the talismanic Adrian Morley when they faced the Warrington Wolves in 2007.

His career so far has also seen him capped for Ireland at the World Cup in 2008, playing all three matches of their campaign in Australia and he'll now link up with the likes of Mark O'Meley and Sam Moa in the pack at FC.

O'Carroll back for Wigan
Thu August 18, 2011
Wigan Warriors prop forward Eamon O'Carroll will make his comeback from a career-threatening sternum injury against Bradford Bulls on Friday - their last game before the Carnegie Challenge Cup final.

The 24-year-old Ireland international has not played an Engage Super League match for more than a year after struggling to overcome his injury but proved his fitness with two recent run-outs in the Under-20s team.

O'Carroll gets his chance in the absence of Ben Cross, who broke an arm in last Sunday's 52-18 win over Salford City Reds, and Andy Coley, who is one of three players rested by coach Michael Maguire ahead of the Wembley clash with Leeds Rhinos.

"Everyone at the club is delighted to see Eamon back," said Maguire. "He has had an extremely tough last 14 months with his injury but his never-say-die attitude to training and rehabilitation has been a shining example."

Half-back Brett Finch and forward Lee Mossop are also rested for Friday's game but Paul Deacon and Jeff Lima return after sitting out the win over Salford.

Bradford have called up teenage forward John Bateman for what would be only his second Engage Super League appearance as a replacement for Elliott Whitehead, who starts a five-match ban after being found guilty of biting.
