Source: www.quins.co.ukHenry Paul has announced that he will be departing the Harlequins Rugby League club at the end of this season. Paul, whose current contract with the Quins takes him up to the end of 2008, has taken up an opportunity to join Leeds Carnegie Rugby Union club on a two year deal.
Since joining Harlequins RL midway through the season in 2006, the thirty four year old has played a vital role for the club both on and off the field. His natural ability as both a player and a leader has made him a key member of the Quins first team squad as well as a favourite amongst supporters.
Although disappointed to see someone of Paul's quality leave, Harlequins RL recognise and appreciate the enormous positive impact he has had on the club and London Rugby League during his time in the capital.
Harlequins Rugby League Head Coach Brian McDermott has said:
"People like Henry Paul don't come along every day and he's one of those people that every club needs.
"When the club first signed Henry there may have been a few eyebrows raised but he has exceeded all expectations. He has been a true servant to the club, both as a player and leader on and off the field.
"Henry has made the decision to move on to better himself, and to do the best thing for his family.
"On behalf of Harlequins Rugby League I'd like to thank Henry for his service to the club and wish him all the best for the next step in his career."While Paul has decided his future beyond Super League XIII he insists he remains focussed on the task at hand, saying:
"It was an important decision to make and I am glad now that it is done and is all out in the open.
"I've now got the rest of the season to play with the Harlequins and that's my focus at the moment.
"I have never been one to leave a club in the lurch, I've always played with consistency and finished off the job at hand and that is what I will be doing here with the Quins. I'll think about Rugby Union when that is done."Paul will remain with the Harlequins through to the end of the 2008 engage Super League season before joining Leeds Carnegie in October of this year.

Source: www.quins.co.ukHarlequins Rugby League's stunning win against the Huddersfield Giants on Saturday at The Stoop gave the Quins an equal first footing on the Super League table.
The 24-0 point victory over the Giants made it four consecutive wins for the Harlequins, with the club having lost only one game since the season kicked off early last month.
Although the Quins are well placed on the competition ladder five rounds into the season, Harlequins Loose Forward and Rugby League icon, Henry Paul, insists the team are staying focused on the job they face each week, saying:
"We are not getting overly carried away but the start we have had this season is pleasing because of the effort that was put in pre-season.
"Winning the last four games has also been good following our opening game against Wigan, we let that game get away from us."Paul believes his team has adopted a more composed approach to their play in 2008 which is getting Harlequins Rugby League the results they are after.
"I think we are keeping our heads cool and playing with better composure this year. Our playing style is more conducive to getting results, we are not being reckless in our play.
"It's very controlled and that is giving us confidence, we aren't forcing things."Paul suffered a bicep injury during the Harlequins win on Saturday and it is hoped he'll be fit for the club's clash with World Club Champions, Leeds Rhinos, at Headingley this Friday night.
The Quins will be looking to make it five wins in a row, a record for the London based club since they formed as Harlequins Rugby League at the end of 2005.
