QRL Judiciary Update
Fri June 1, 2007
by Queensland Rugby League
Source: www.qrl.com.au

Burleigh Bears centre Jordan Atkins has escaped suspension for a dangerous throw, receiving a downgrade at the QRL judiciary.

Atkins was originally charged with a grade two dangerous throw, carrying a three-week ban in the worst-case scenario. By successfully applying for a downgrade and then entering an early plea, Atkins instead received 93 demerit points.

The amount is seven demerit points short of a week's suspension, but will be added to any subsequent offences in the next 12 months.

In the only other Qld Wizard Cup judicial matter this week, Peter Penaia of the Central Comets was given a five-week suspension after taking the early plea to three separate offences.

Sent off in the Comets' 40-16 loss to Toowoomba last Sunday, Penaia conceded to two counts of a grade two careless high tackle (7th, 30th minute) and one of a grade four striking charge (75th minute).

In FOGS Cup, Scott Hartshorn of the Sunshine Coast Falcons has received a week's suspension for a grade two reckless high tackle.

Tyson Lofipo of the Ipswich Jets narrowly avoided a month off from football, receiving 393 points and three weeks on the sideline for a grade three dangerous throw.

Tweed Heads' Colts players Dylan Landon and David Moore were both outed for a week for a grade one dangerous throw.
