Source: www.raiders.com.auCanberra Raiders prop Dane Tilse has been ruled out for four weeks, after scans yesterday revealed damage to his rib cartilage.
Tilse was hopeful he'd be given the all clear by medical staff, however the injury is worse than first expected and will require a month on the sideline.
Sam Mataora and Joe Picker have been included on an extended bench for the weekend, with a decision to be made on the final make-up of the team later in the week.
Both Mataora and Picker were impressive in the Mounties first win of the year last weekend against Manly.
Raiders Coach David Furner said the loss of Tilse was a blow for the side and said he wouldn't risk further injury to Learoyd-Lahrs by selecting him ahead of being fully fit.
"Tilsey has been in tremendous form in the trials and the first two weeks so to lose another prop is disappointing but we have Sam and Joey there who can fill the role," Furner said. "Tommy isn't quite right to go yet and he'll continue to be assessed as he continues his rehab running sessions."

Source: www.raiders.com.auMore good news on the re-signing front at Raiders HQ today, with Joe Picker confirming he'll be at the Raiders until at least the end of 2013 on a new two year deal.
A junior from the nearby town of Bigga in Country NSW, Picker has been a regular in the Raiders NRL side since making his debut in 2007 and is a valuable cog in the Green Machine's plans to stick with a solid squad over the coming years.
Picker said there was never any doubt with where he wanted to further his NRL career and said he looked forward to seeing the Raiders improve and get back in the winner's circle in the weeks ahead.
"I've always wanted to stay here in Canberra and if I can go on and finish my career with the club it would be a great thing," Picker said. "We've started to build a strong team here in Canberra and everyone is keen to stay and have success as a team and although we've started slow this year we're keen to improve in the weeks ahead."
Raiders CEO Don Furner said the club was thrilled to have Picker on the books for another two years and re-affirmed the clubs position as one who develops their own talent.
"Joe is a great player and more importantly he's a Raiders junior so we're very happy to have him with us for two more seasons," Furner said. "We're a development club and put a lot of time and effort into our local juniors, so when we can keep them in the region it's a great positive for us."
In other Raiders news Captain Alan Tongue said he was hopeful of making a return this weekend from a shoulder injury and will be assessed on Saturday at the Raiders final team session.
