Penrith prop Frank Puletua has re-signed with the club today adding size and experience to the Panthers forward pack.

Puletua's future was not guaranteed due to a number of bonuses that were activated making it harder for him to secure a new deal but the local junior has been able to secure his future with the Panthers where it all started in 1998 when he made his debut.

A Samoan World Cup representative in both the 2000 and 2008 World Cups, Puletua has played 168 career games, 142 of those with the Panthers while 26 were with South Sydney in the two year stint he spent there in 2002-03.

Jetstar Gold Coast Titans Managing Director Michael Searle today released Frank Puletua from his playing contract with the Jetstar Titans effective immediately.

The 27 year old had signed to play with the new NRL franchise for the 2007/2008 seasons from Penrith where he played alongside Jetstar Titans football manager Scott Sattler and players Luke Swain and Preston Campbell.

"Frank approached the Club some months ago, requesting a release from his contract which was initially declined," Searle said.

"Frank has recently had further issues arise and he presented those circumstances to the Club and his request for release based on compassionate grounds. The Club has offered Frank an unconditional release, effective immediately based on these compassionate grounds.

"I have today contacted Michael Leary (Penrith Panthers CEO) and advised him of our decision and provided him with our support should the Penrith Panthers wish to sign Frank for a further term now that we have released him.

"It's important to note that the circumstances surrounding this compassionate release are private and confidential and we would ask that the Puletua's families' privacy is respected at this time."
