Rothery re-signs with the Raiders
Tue September 12, 2006

Raiders forward Alan Rothery has re-signed with the Raiders for a further two seasons today, in a deal which see him on contract with the Raiders until the end of the 2008 season.

Rothery debuted with the Raiders in 2004 against the Broncos and has gone on to play 24 matches for the green machine, including six appearances in the Raiders first grade in 2006.

23-year-old Rothery said he is happy to be remaining in the nation's capital, and is confident he has a future at the club

"I've found a home here in Canberra and it's great to stay," Rothery said.

"I've been playing some pretty good football in the last month and the Raiders have rewarded me with another contract."

Rothery said he believes he can offer the Raiders a lot more over the next two years, and is looking forward to working hard in the off-season, an area which has been plagued by injuries in the past two seasons.

"I didn't want to be one of those players who changes clubs at the end of each contract so it's great to be here in Canberra again," he said.

"I get a full off-season under my belt for the first time in a couple of seasons so hopefully I can make my way back into first grade."

Raider's general manager Don Furner said Rothery has proven over the past few weeks that he is a player that will push for first grade next year, and is confident he will continue to improve as a player.

"Alan is a tough player and we know he has the ability to play at the highest level," Furner said. "I'm sure we will see the best of Alan Rothery over the next two years and that's why he has been re-signed."
