Source: www.bulldogs.com.auMitsubishi Electric Bulldogs captain Andrew Ryan has re-signed with the Club for a further three years. This will see him in the blue-and white until the end of 2011.
Ryan, 29, made his debut for the Bulldogs in round 1 in 2003 and has played 120 first grade games for the Club. He sensationally made his captaining debut in the Bulldogs Grand Final win in 2004.
Andrew Ryan said,
"I've very happy to be running around with the Bulldogs for a few more years yet.
"I've been with the Club for six years and it was always my first preference to stay with the Bulldogs for more years to come.
"It's a great club, from the players, to the coaching staff to the administration. We've got a very enthusiastic and committed squad and will be giving the NRL competition a real shake over the next few years."Bulldogs coach Steve Folkes commented,
"Andrew is a true professional on and off the field. He hasn't been a NSW and Australian representative over the past few years for nothing."Bulldogs CEO Malcolm Noad commented,
"Andrew is obviously a very good player, but he brings so much more than his footy skills to the Bulldogs. His commitment to the community in our local area, and to the bush where he grew up, epitomises the values that this club stand for."Ryan has a bag full of representative honours including four appearances for the Country Origin side (one as captain), 12 games for the NSW State of Origin team and 11 caps for Australia.

The Australian selectors have added Willie Mason, Andrew Ryan and Steve Price to the Kangaroos train-on squad, in preparation for the October 14 Test match against New Zealand in Wellington.
Mason and Ryan were the only Bulldogs selected in the squad following their dismal finish to the season with representative players Mark O'Meley and Hazem El Masri paying the price for the Bulldogs poor form when it mattered. Mason is a certain selection in the Test side whereas Ryan is in a very touch and go spot for his position in the Test side. Ryan is up against Tonie Carroll, Paul Gallen and Dallas Johnson for the Australian lock forward position.
Price has been a tower of strength for the Warriors this season and in no surprise was the only addition from the Kiwi based club. Price however has fallen out in the past with current Kangaroos coach Ricky Stuart and it's going to be a tall order for the NRL's No.1 metre eater to make the squad.
The updated squad is as follows:
Tonie Carroll - Brisbane Broncos
Petero Civoniceva - Brisbane Broncos
Justin Hodges - Brisbane Broncos
Sam Thaiday - Brisbane Broncos
Willie Mason - The Bulldogs
Andrew Ryan - The Bulldogs
Greg Bird - Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks
Paul Gallen - Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks
Luke Douglas - Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks
Anthony Laffranchi - Gold Coast Titans
Scott Prince - Gold Coast Titans
Luke Bailey - Gold Coast Titans
Kurt Gidley - Newcastle Knights
Steve Price - New Zealand Warriors
Mark Gasnier - St George Illawarra Dragons
Braith Anasta - Sydney Roosters
Anthony Tupou - Sydney Roosters
Nate Myles - Sydney Roosters
Robbie Farah - Wests Tigers
Withdrawals due to injury: Danny Buderus, Steve Simpson (Newcastle Knights), Luke Lewis, Trent Waterhouse (Penrith Panthers), Matt Cooper, Ben Creagh, Jason Ryles (St George Illawarra), Craig Wing, Craig Fitzgibbon (Sydney Roosters).
