Fassifern rallies behind Fijian bid

The tiny town of Harrisville is buzzing with excitement following the selection of three Fassifern Bombers players in Fiji's 2008 World Cup squad.

The Bombers, who are based at Harrisville's Hayes Oval and play in the Ipswich Rugby League, enjoyed the services of a group of Fijian players throughout the 2008 season.

The injection of Fijian talent played a big part in Fassifern's rise from the bottom of the ladder.

Just as importantly, their inclusion in Cam Wallace's Bombers team generated enormous hype throughout the region and now Fassifern fans are keen to get right behind their 'local' heroes in the World Cup beginning this month.

Jone Macilai, Kaliova Nauqe and Osea Sadrau are the Bombers players in Fiji's 24-man World Cup squad.

The trio will rub shoulders with high profile teammates, including Wes Naiqama, Daryl Millard, Semi Tadulala and Ashton Sims.
