Source: www.cowboys.com.auA foot injury has forced Cowboys co-captain Matthew Scott out of the Monday Night Football clash with the Raiders and handed Ricky Thorby his NRL debut for North Queensland.
The reigning Dally M Prop of the Year tore a ligament in the top of his foot late in the first half of Saturday night's loss to Cronulla at Dairy Farmers Stadium and is expected to miss two or three matches for the Cowboys.
However, he should be available for selection in the Australian team to face New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday night, 20 April.
"I'm aiming to be back for the Roosters game in Darwin in round seven," Scott said.
"But I'm told it can be a tricky type of injury to recover from so nothing is certain at this stage."
With Scott absent, Ashton Sims will start in the Cowboys' front-row at Canberra Stadium with Thorby to come off the interchange bench.
The former St George Illawarra Dragon joined North Queensland prior to the 2011 season but was unable to add to his tally of 21 NRL matches last year.
He was set to make his debut in round six against Canberra, but frustratingly was forced to withdraw after suffering a groin injury in pre-match training.
The 26-year-old has started the year strongly for the Northern Pride in the Intrust Super Cup and was 18th man for the Cowboys against Parramatta in round three.
Apart from the front-row change, the Cowboys will take an unchanged squad to Canberra to face a Raiders side coming off an impressive 30-16 win against the Wests Tigers on Monday night.
Winger Antonio Winterstein has been included despite hyper-extending his knee against the Sharks.
Monday night's match kicks off at 7pm and will be live on Fox Sports.

Source: www.cowboys.com.auMatthew Scott and Johnathan Thurston have been formally announced as the Toyota Cowboys co-captains for the 2012 season, while Thurston has officially been handed the club's number six jersey.
The announcements were two of the highlights of the Cowboys' season launch held at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre in front of 700 guests, including ARL Commission chairman John Grant.
Kangaroos and Queensland State of Origin teammates Scott and Thurston, who are also good mates off the field, shared the North Queensland captaincy for the first time in 2011 in a move that was widely regarded as a success.
The change for Thurston this year is that he has given up his famous Cowboys number seven jersey that he has worn for the past seven seasons in favour of the six as he switches from halfback to five-eighth for the 2012 competition.
Scott said the Cowboys were in a very positive mood leading into the season opener against the Gold Coast Titans at Dairy Farmers Stadium next Saturday night.
"We had a relatively good couple of trials but obviously we've still got a couple of things we need to improve, but we're feeling very confident," Scott said.
"We think we've got a lot of depth there to cover a lot of things that could happen such as losing Johnathan at Origin time or any injuries that may occur.
"That does give the team a lot more confidence and you can definitely tell at training that we've got the depth to cover a lot of positions now."
He expects Thurston will have a more expansive role as a five-eighth this year with off-season recruit Robert Lui and Ray Thompson vying to be his halves partner.
Just who will get the job for round one will be known early Tuesday afternoon when coach Neil Henry announces his squad to face the Coast.
"I think it will free him (Thurston) up a bit," Scott said.
"It's definitely going to allow him to play a more expansive role and take a little more pressure off him.
"It's going to be great to see."
The Dally M Prop of the Year said he was looking forward to seeing Lui in action after the former Wests Tigers halfback missed the trials after suffering a knee injury.
He has been cleared by medical staff this week and is available for selection for round one.
"It's been a pleasure to train with him," Scott said.
"Unfortunately because he missed the trials we haven't been able to see what he can do in a game.
"But we've done a lot of contact work and opposed sessions where you can just see the quality player he is."
However, Scott expects Thompson, who played every game in 2011, will be given first crack as starting halfback against the Titans.
