Source: www.quins.co.ukHarlequins Rugby League are pleased to announce that long-time first team player Jon Wells has committed to a new two year deal with the club.
The new agreement will see him continue to call the Stoop home until the end of 2010.
The 29 year old, who made the move to the Capital at the end of 2003 to join the London Broncos, has been an integral member of the London based side for five seasons now.
Having played in every season since Super League kicked off in 1996, Harlequins Rugby League are pleased that Wells has committed to playing out his career with them.
Wells himself has said:
"I'm happy to commit myself to Harlequins Rugby League and to finish my career here. They have been very good to me over the past five years. We're a family club with real ambitions and I'm glad to be a part of it.
"I think we all see the present as a work in progress and I'm really excited about being here when we really start to see the benefit of everyone's hard work.
"Now I'm just looking forward to getting this brace off my leg and back onto the field to contribute again - players make very bad spectators!"
Harlequins Rugby League Head Coach, Brian McDermott, who last week also re-committed to the Harlequins signing a new three year deal, is delighted to see Wells staying in London, commenting:
"Jon has been the nucleus of this team for a couple of years now and every team needs a strong nucleus to be successful. We are very happy that Jon has decided to stay with us for another couple of years."
Wells, who has missed the last two games with a medial ligament tear is hoped to be back playing within the next few weeks.
