Huddersfield announce Paul Whatuira signing
Wed August 8, 2007
Source: www.giantsrl.com

Huddersfield Giants have today announced the signing, from Wests Tigers, of Kiwi International Centre Paul Whatuira on a three-year contract.

The 26 year old has 10 Kiwi International caps and two NRLTitles to his name. He is delighted to be joining the club for Super League XIII:

Paul Whatuira said:

" Over the past few weeks, I have been in serious discussions with a number of Clubs in both the NRL and Super League whilst giving consideration to the next stage of my Rugby League career. Huddersfield Giants have shown themselves to be a very professional and progressive Club with a strong desire to have me with them in 2008 and beyond. Having been fortunate enough to have won two NRL Titles, my ambition is to be part of an ambitious Super League Club that like me has ambitions to win Trophies and Championships. I see this in the Giants and hope to be part of their future success. "

Head Coach Jon Sharp said:

"To sign a player like this is awesome for the club. Paul is a fantastic player and a current New Zealand international, and will be a tremendous addition to our squad. He had the choice of a number of clubs on both sides of the world, and the fact he chose us speaks volumes about our current standing in the game. This is fantastic news."

Giants Chairman Ken Davy said:

"The signing of someone of the quality of Paul is an outstanding achievement for the Giants. His playing record is one of the most impressive in the game and his age means that he is joining the Huddersfield Giants in his prime and indeed with the best years to come. This makes it wonderful news for the fans and creates a mouth-watering prospect for our 2008 season."
