Bulldogs sign Danny Williams

The Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs have signed forward Danny Williams to a two-year contract (2008-09).

Williams, 21, was a Queensland U/19 representative and a Junior Kangaroo. He was a member of the Roosters 2007 fulltime squad, playing five NRL games for the Club.

Bulldogs coach Steve Folkes said, "Obviously Danny comes to us under extraordinary circumstances. He has handled himself with great professionalism over the past couple of weeks and is a welcome addition to our squad."

Bulldogs recruitment manager Keith Onslow added, "When the greatest front rower of all-time in Arthur Beetson and a highly respected coach like Chris Anderson say they've seen a player who ticks all the boxes, you've got to take notice.

"That was their assessment of Danny Williams and we're happy to have him here."

Roosters re-sign Williams

Rookie forward Danny Williams has today re-signed with the Sydney Roosters until 2009.

Williams, 20, will make his NRL debut this weekend against the North Queensland Cowboys having previously played in the QLD Under 19's team and Junior Kangaroos in 2005.

Originally from Mackay, Williams joined the Roosters in 2004 as a 17-year-old and his contract extension is in line with the Club's ongoing youth policy.

"It is very exciting to sign a new contract with the club in the 100th year and in the same week as making my NRL debut. I can't wait to run out this weekend against the Cowboys," said Williams.

Roosters CEO, Brian Canavan said, "The re-signing of Danny is great news and furthers the club's strategy to secure our exciting young talent."
