Source: www.crusadersrfl.comCrusaders have been given a huge boost with the news that Rhys Hanbury, Frank Winterstein and Hep Cahill have had their visa applications approved.
The trio are expected to arrive in the country over the next few days after finally getting the go ahead from the Borders Agency.
They will link up with the squad at training next week and will be in contention to face Salford City Reds on Saturday April 2nd (KO 7.15 PM).
Their return will bolster head coach Iestyn Harris' squad, which has also been strengthened with the arrival this week of new signings Jordan Tansey and Andy Bracek.
Both Frank Winterstein and Rhys Hanbury were first team regulars for the Crusaders last year.
Samoan international Winterstein, made 29 appearances last term for the Welsh side, scoring 4 tries.
Utility player Rhys Hanbury was a key figure for the Crusaders as they marched towards their maiden play-off spot, scoring 12 tries in 20 appearances.
Kiwi second-row Hep Cahill is a new signing for the 2011 Engage Super League season and join the club from NRL side Melbourne Storm. Hep has also won representative honours with the New Zealand Maori and was part of the Melbourne side that beat Leeds Rhinos in the 2010 World Club Challenge.
And Crusaders head coach believes all three players will have a vital role to play during the remainder of the season.
"Having these three guys is massive for us.
"It has been a long and frustrating process trying to get them over here and our squad is a bit light at the moment.
"They are three important players for us who are going to play a massive role. Rhys and Frank were very big players for us last year.
"Rhys is a very versatile player who can play in a number of positions, and every squad needs someone like that. He really blossomed when he played in the halves last year and his arrival will take some of the pressure of Michael Witt and Jarrod Sammut.
"Frank is a strong ball carrier for us. He's a big unit and he played a lot of rugby for the Crusaders last year. He's still only young and he's got a big future ahead of him.
"I am very excited to see Hep Cahill in action. Craig Bellamy (Melbourne Storm head coach) said he was the best pure athlete he's every worked with and he will give our pack something different. I think him and Jason Chan could form a very destructive second-row partnership for us.
"We've been in regular contact with all three players and given them a training programme to follow whilst they've been in Australia. They will be short of a bit of match fitness when they hook up with the rest of the squad but they won't have a lot of catching up to do.
"We're getting close to having our full-squad available now and that will create extra competition for places."
Crusaders face a trip to high-flying Castleford Tigers this Sunday (KO 3PM).
And Harris is hoping his side can get back to winning ways against the Tigers this weekend.
He added: "Castleford are a strong team. Terry Matterson is doing a great job there and they are now reaping the benefits of investing in their youth system.
"They have two very dangerous halves in the shape of Rangi Chase and Danny Orr, and we know how dangerous Nick Youngquest can be in attack from his time with us last season.
"Training has gone well for us this week. We've brought in Jordan Tansey and he has looked really sharp all week. We've also had Paul Johnson and Adam Peek back this week, which is another boost for us. We've been light in the forwards in recent weeks so it's important that we get those two bodies back in action."

Source: www.crusadersrfl.comNew Crusaders Head Coach Iestyn Harris has been boosted with the news that Peter Lupton and Frank Winterstein have signed new two-year contracts with the club.
The duo follow Vince Mellars in committing their future to the Welsh side and will remain at the Racecourse Ground until the end of the 2012 Super League season.
Utility man Lupton, 28, joined the Welsh outfit from Castleford Tigers for their maiden Super League season in 2009 and has become an important part of the team.
He was ever present for Crusaders in 2010, scoring 6 tries in 30 appearances. Injuries to other players meant Lupton was forced to play in a number of position's for the Welsh side, including loose-forward, hooker and half-back, where he excelled as the club went on to secure their first-ever Super League play-off birth.
Lupton brings a wealth of Super League experience, having previously played for London Broncos, Leeds Rhinos, Hull FC as well as Castleford Tigers.
Lupton said: "I'm enjoying my time here in Wrexham and I'm glad that my future has been sorted. Last season was a great one for this club and I believe we can do even better next year. We've got a great team spirit here in Wrexham and I know there will be extra competition for places next year. I want to be part of the match-day squad every week so I'm just going to keep working hard."
Samoan international Winterstein, 23, can play anywhere in the back-row has been a big hit since his arrival from Wakefield Wildcats in 2010. He made 29 appearances for Crusaders last season, scoring three tries.
He has NRL experience with the Canterbury Bulldogs and played in all of Samoa's recent autumn's internationals.
Crusaders coach Iestyn Harris is thrilled that both players have committed their future to the club and believes they will both have big parts to play during the 2011 Super League experience.
"I'm delighted that both Peter and Frank are going to be with us for the next two season," Harris said.
"Peter was one of our unsung heroes last season. He had to play in a few positions for us because of injuries and he did really well for us. Peter is a very intelligent player, he reads the game well and isn't afraid to pull his sleeves up and do the hard work as well.
"His versatility means he can play in a number of positions and every squad in Super League needs someone like Peter.
"Frank showed a lot of promise last season. He's only 23 and he's going to get better and better. He's a strong player who runs hard, but also has good footwork and good speed for a big man. Frank is an important part of the Crusaders squad and we have high hopes for him next season."
