Tue August 21, 2007
Source: www.dragons.com.au

Hooker Simon Woolford will this week make his 250th career appearance in the top grade when the Dragons clash with the Eels in the Monday night fixture at WIN Stadium.

Woolford, 32, made his first grade debut back in Round 11 of 1994 and represented the Raiders on 233 occasions and will play his 17th match for the Dragons this weekend.

"When I made my debut I probably didn't think I would ever play 250 matches but when I look back I'm proud of being able to play this many games in the top grade," Woolford said.

The Dragons also welcome back Beau Scott who will come straight back into the starting side after missing the match against the Cowboys due to injury and with Ben Hornby out with an ankle injury Josh Morris moves to fullback and Tom Hewitt comes into the side on the wing.

Slater and Woolford both suspended
Wed April 5, 2006
by Matthew O'Neill
Melbourne fullback Billy Slater has been suspended for seven matches after being found guilty of kicking Wests Tigers prop John Skandalis during the Storm's controversial 30-28 loss on Sunday at Leichhardt Oval.

Slater tried to contest the grading of the charge but was unsuccessful and his seven match ban virtually rules him out of the opening two State of Origin matches where he was hoping to regain a position in the Queensland side after being sensationally axed for the deciding match last year.

Despite Slater's great efforts to help people with Cyclone Larry, he never stood much of a chance with a groundswell of people against him with former Test prop Steve Roach in particular coming out against Slater today in the press.

Slater said the incident was an accident and it did look bad as stomping is a very dangerous act. Roach today compared it to eye gouging.

Melbourne have the bye this weekend with Steve Turner favourite to play fullback.

Canberra hooker Simon Woolford contest his high tackle charge but was also unsuccessful despite a great case by the Raiders. Woolford will miss two matches including Sunday's clash against the Bulldogs at Canberra Stadium. There's been bitter rivalry between Woolford and the Bulldogs over the years and Woolford will be disappointed to miss the match, especially as the Bulldogs are ripe for the picking.
