Yow Yeh Injury Statement from Broncos Doctor

The Broncos specialist Dr Peter Myers has made the following statement in relation to the injury to Jharal Yow Yeh.

"Jharal has sustained a compound comminuted fracture dislocation of his right ankle. He was initially treated at the Royal Perth Hospital and transferred on Sunday to Brisbane.

"He has been treated by repeated washouts of the joint to ensure that it is clean and clear of infection. When it is determined that the wound is satisfactory to proceed then definitive stabilization of the fracture and dislocation will be undertaken. This will either be on Thursday or Saturday of this week.

"Jharal is not planning to return to rugby league this year but hopefully will be able to join the team for pre-season training."

Jharal Yow Yeh's injury has been diagnosed in Perth today after he was taken to hospital during last night's NRL match against South Sydney.

The Australian Test winger has a broken ankle after landing awkwardly attempting to catch a bomb in the first half of the game.

He was immediately transported to hospital in the company of good friend and fellow Broncos' winger Dane Gagai.

There will be further surgery once Yow Yeh has been seen by a specialist.

No comment will be able to be made on the amount of time he will be out of the game until that consultation with the surgeon and the second procedure has taken place.

However the injury is not deemed career threatening.

Team management and the Broncos' doctor stayed with Yow Yeh in Perth when the team flew back overnight.

Yow Yeh was in good spirits this afternoon.
