Pre Game: A few line-up changes ... most notably Simon Woolford moving to the bench with Alan Tongue starting at hooker. Riddell has come into the starting line-up for the Eels in the back row, with Cayless to the bench.
th min: Mistake by TIm Smith, running into the decoy runner turns the ball over. Penalty given away to the Raiders.
th min: Lincoln Withers gets across the line, video ref called to check obstruction. Awful read in defence by the Eels and a try is awarded. Raiders 4-0
th min: Clinton Schifcofske takes an eternity, might be a $10,000 fine, but kicks it. Raiders 6-0
th min: Jason Smith uses his years of experience and gets it pulling up in the in-goal, Petersen is forced and it's a dropout. Smith's last tackle option demonstrates his ageing legs by getting his chip no more than 4 metres further down field and the Eels have it.
th min: It's a Smith-a-thon! Probably is, it's a mistake-riddled Smith-a-thon with Tim Smith's awful kick going straight into the defenders and the Raiders have it. Easy metres are made, bomb goes up from Smith and every stands and watches it like it's Haley's Comet! Hits the ground and is turned over.
th min: Penalty conceded by the Raiders. Jason Smith speaks to the ref, but we can barely understand him as a result of having a voice like a 50-year old chain smoker!
th min: What a shock ... Tim Smith kicks for the in-goal and kicks it dead by the length of the Randwick straight! Raiders make easy metres, and Jason Smith puts a bomb up but gets no result. Poor kicking is as common as the Smith surname in the White Pages ...
th min: Eels mistake, knock-on at the play the ball. Raiders on the attack 20 metres out. Raiders turn it over, with big Learoyd-Lahrs getting tossed over the sideline.
th min: Smith puts Tongue in a hole. The hole closes up tight. Eels get the ball after the deep kick and work it out of their end. Tongue's involvement is obvious.
th min: Tim Smith drops the ball on the 5th tackle. Raiders on the attack. Fui Fui with a great tackle stops the momentum. Woolford kicks the ball dead ... that's why he doesn't play in the halves!
th min: Finally a Tim Smith kick gets a result! Drop out for the Raiders as Schifcofske takes it touch in goal.
st min: Tim Smith throws a forward pass. So far he's been one of the best on the field ... for the Raiders. Raiders working it out through Tongue.
nd min: Thurling on the field. Jason Smith kicks it dead, what is doing with the Smith's kicking game's tonight? Vella juggles but holds on to it. Eels make a big break down the left and are on the attack now.
rd min: Tim Smith drops it again. Eels give away a penalty. Hindmarsh is on for the Eels. Hindmarsh forces a mistake and but the scrum is against the Eels.
th min: Craig Frawley is in after a second man play run by Jason Smith. Tim Smith comes in to create the extra room ... he's having a fantastic game for the Raiders. Raiders 10-0
th min: $20,000 may be on the line now after that conversion ... but ultimately it's successful. Raiders 12-0
th min: Tongue is in everything ... great tackle on Cayless. The other Smith, Jeremy, finally shows a Smith can kick and finds touch deep in the Raiders red zone.
th min: Boring set. One-out stuff by the Raiders and a kick out of dummy half by Woolford. Petersen is taken high to add something of interest and the Eels are on the attack. The Eels crowd have come to life ... the problem is it's the type of life a 40 year old virgin has.
st min: Morrison is in after a pass from Smith. Which Smith? Well, have a guess ... go on. You're right ... it was Jeremy Smith. Raiders 12-4
rd min: Delaney hit the post! The replay shows how full the moon is in Wade McKinnon's world. Raiders 12-4
th min: Awful kick on the 5th by the Eels. Raiders working into an attacking position. The Eels make two mistakes ... off-site and markers not square and the Raiders get the penalty. Raiders attacking from the 20, hopefully this set is less boring ...
th min: Boring try ... but I'm sure the Raiders fans are as happy as viking in a brewery. Schifcofske is going for $30,000 after Adrian Purtell scored in the corner. Raiders 16-4
th min: Definitely $30,000 now ... but he did kick it. Raiders 18-4
th min: Still boring but the Raiders played safe. Eels get a penalty working it out and Smith find touch 20m out. Finally a decent kick ... he obviously had time this time.
th min: Another forward pass! Tim Smith forward to Jeremy Smith as Brian Smith spits his Smiths Crisps out. Jason Smith is laughing.
HALFTIME:Raiders leading 18-4. The Eels look as coherent as a buck on his bucks night after 2 dozen schooners ...
st min: Raiders cough it up thanks to Vella's pressure. Eels on the attack now, nothing much doing yet. Jeremy Smith gets the repeat set with a good kick ... at least one Smith can kick! How many Smith's does it take to get a dropout?
rd min: Comedy Capers! More dropped balls than a Lotto Draw! Eels managed to get it back and are on the attack. Riddell is caught on the last after "hogging" it. Raiders have it ...
th min: An over-worked Tongue has lead to a sore jaw. Now the ball is played and the Raiders explode one out. Tongue comes back for a second lashing ...
th min: Eels working it out after a good long kick from the Raiders. Mistake by Eric Grothe and the Raiders get the ball in good position.
th min: Another awful kick by Smith ... Jason this time. He kicks it into the Eels on the last and the Raiders play breaks down ... again. Eels working it out.
th min: Tim Smith puts up a bomb that, well, bombed. Raiders with some enterprising play get up field and nearly get the ball back from a chip and chase. Eels managed to get the ball and are working it out again.
th min: Hindmarsh drops a ball from Grothe. The Eels have as much control as a car with bald tyres on ice. Raiders have it but don't do much and the Eels get it back and earn a penalty. Matt Petersen sustains an injury but won't leave the field.
st min: Tim Smith kicks to Petersen's wing ... and Chalk makes an easy take. Why would you kick to the wing where you have an injured player? Raiders worked it out, got to the kick and McKinnon brings it back from 25m out.
nd min: Tongue grabs Widders in a great tackle but gives away a penalty. Eels get another set and are on the attack.
rd min: Jeremy Smith puts a grubber through and gets a repeat set. Good read by the Raiders defence but a drop out is required. Fui Fui hits it up with venom.
th min: TRY! TRY! TRY! Try to the Eels! Dean Widders puts in a grubber and Matt Peterson collects it for the try. How bad is Tim Smith going when Dean Widders has a better kicking game? Raiders 18-8
th min: Great kick by Delaney. Raiders 18-10
th min: Good set by the Eels ... Jeremy Smith delivers a deep kick and the Raiders have to work it out from their own 10m. Raiders kicking from inside their own 40m with Schifcofscke and a penalty is given away by the Eels for a late hit on Schifcofske. Ordinary penalty to be honest, I have seen worse hits at the Eurovision Song Contest! Raiders on the attack.
th min: A flop from Woolford ... pretty typical. However, in this case, it's a flop over the try-line and soft try to Canberra! The Eels defence is suffering from narcolepsy! Raiders 22-10
st min: $40,000 for Schifcofske! Raiders 24-10
nd min: Daley is inquiring as to whether the Raiders will come again. If Tongue gets put into more holes, I think it's certain! Eels work it out and kick it dead ... again.
rd min: Withers kicks out on the full and the Eels are on the attack, inside the Raiders 40m zone.
th min: McKinnon is offside after a good kick from Jeremy Smith. He was stopped before the line anyway, so it made little difference on the last tackle. Raiders working it up after finding touch.
th min: Woolford's kick dribbles over the touch line in goal. The Eels work it out from teh 20m tap. Widders finds Hindmarsh with a great offload but the Eels butcher a certain opportunity on the next tackle after a good scoot by Jeremy Smith. The Raiders are working it up again, playing safe footy again. Jason Smith kicks long again and the Eels get the tap restart.
th min: After some good charges from Moi Moi, Hindmarsh spills the ball as the Eels spread it right. The Raiders have the scrum feed ...
th min: The game is getting very, very scrappy. The Raiders drop the ball whilst on attack and the Eels are working it up, getting to the Raiders 40 in 3 tackles. The defence is keen from both sides, but the ball control in attack is awful. Delaney throws a diabolical pass after taking the cross-field kick and it gets turned over again.
nd min: Big kick from Jason Smith was needed and he delivered. The Eels are playing with energy, but it's just not happening for them. Up to halfway on tackle three. Tim Smith throws a great cutout ball but it's dropped cold. Adrian Purtell picks it up and runs 60 metres to score. Raiders 28-10
th min: Schifcofske is going for $50,000 and he costs his club another $10,000! Fantastic news for the NRL ... Raiders 30-10
th min: Riddell creates a half chance but there's no support for McKinnon. Jeremy Smith succumbs to a cramp on the other side of the field and play stops for a second. Gives me time to grab my breath after the scintillating play in the last 76 minutes.
th min: Tim Smith fumbles, regathers and kicks dead. Better kick, but ultimately no result. Raiders work it out from the restart. Raiders make a mistake on the 3rd tackle in their own half. This game has reached the dizzy heights of an ant hill.
th min: Another mistake. Cayless is bleeding like a stuck Riddell and it's all over. Thank Christ ... I don't think another dozen beers could have helped me get through another minute of this game!
FULLTIME: Raiders 30 bt Eels 10. Raiders have moved into 7th place with a solid win. The Eels continue to prop up the bottom of the table as their season reaches yet another crisis point.
Well that all from rleague.com's Live Scores and Commentary. We hope you've enjoyed it and feel free to tune in shortly to the next match!
