Sydney University fielded an amateur team in the competition from 1920 to 1937. They were never very successful, primarily because whenever they turned up a good player one of the professional clubs would sign him up. They took out the wooden spoon 11 times. Their best season was 1926, when they were runners-up to South Sydney. The Sydney University RLFC still exists playing in the NSW Tertiary Students Rugby League. Uni always field two teams and sometimes three and has won their competition in 2000 and in 2002.
