Mon April 10, 2006 Source: http://www.nzwarriors.com Just when you thought the New Zealand Warriors had gotten back on track, they turned on a first half performance, in front of a paltry crowd of just over 7800 people, which effectively shut them out of yesterdays NRL match at Ericsson Stadium against the Many Sea Eagles. The Eagles won the match 22-8 ensuring the Warriors stayed on zero points for another week. They built their win on some incredible defense and then proceeded to take the laws of the game to the extreme edge with a second half display that almost ruined the game as a spectacle. The were lucky only one player ended out in the bin. As the Warriors built some momentum in the second half, the NRLs ridiculous obstruction rule robbed the Warriors of a perfectly good try. One has to wonder why this stupid rule is only applied to tries and nowhere else on the field. Ruben Wiki was also denied a try from a pass that, at best, looked flat. At the end of the day though, the Warriors just simply failed to turn up to work on time. Manly were good without being great, however they did leave fans, not to mention a couple of Warriors players, with two memorable moments. Steve Menzies and Steve Matai pulled off two bone jarring tackles which could be felt all the way back in Manly. The Warriors head to Canberra next week for a difficult assignment against the Raiders, while Manly face a Dragons team who were woeful against Newcastle. |
