Source: www.hullfc.comHull FC got back to winning ways as they came out on top in a bruising battle with Wakefield at the Atlantic Solutions Stadium.
The Airlie Birds fought back after a sluggish start to pick up their first win in four outings and maintain their place in the top six.
Wakefield belied their lowly league position with an excellent start that saw them move 10-0 up in the opening 17 minutes.
However, Tony Smith's troops were unable to maintain their early momentum as they slipped to a fifth defeat of the campaign that leaves them rooted at the foot of the table.
Semi Tadulala grabbed the first try of the match as he climbed highest to claim Jamie Rooney's high bomb to touch down.
Rooney's conversion attempt struck the post but the stand-off made no mistake with his second kick at goal after Oliver Elima had gone in underneath the posts.
A 10-point cushion was no more than the Wildcats deserved but their early enthusiasm received a blow when David Solomona was forced off with an injury.
With the influential Kiwi out of action, Wakefield allowed their opponents to get back in the game when Richard Whiting sidestepped inside a defender to cross on the wing.
Paul Cooke was successful with the conversion and, after Jamie Field had a try chalked off by referee Richard Silverwood for a knock-on, Hull went in front just before half-time.
Kirk Yeaman showed tremendous strength to force his way over for his eighth try of the season which was converted to make it 12-10 at the interval.
That narrow two-point lead was extended straight after the re-start as Gareth Carvell crashed over to catch Wakefield cold.
Tadulala?s second of the game kept the Wildcats in touch and they clawed their way in front again when Jason Demetriou picked up a loose ball from a high kick to cross the line.
Rooney's successful conversion to make it 22-20, but the home side?s lead lasted for just six minutes as Hull showed their class to come out on top.
Paul King darted in from dummy half to edge the Black and Whites back in front and the two points were sealed with eight minutes to play when Gareth Raynor crossed in the left corner.
