Quins backed up victory over Catalans Dragons with a comfortable win over Wigan to take maximum Easter points in the engage Super League. Harlequins raced in three tries in the first fifteen minutes and five in the first half leaving the Warriors with next to no hope of recovery.
Quins attack exuded confidence in the first period and the final scoreline could have looked embarrassing for Wigan if another four tries had not been disallowed and more than three from seven attempts at goal found their mark.
Some missed opportunites from Quins allowed Wigan stay in touch in the second period but when Wigan's five successive sets in attack failed to break down the Harlequins defence, their seventh loss on the bounce looked inevitable.
Harlequins will doubtless be delighted with maximum points from the Easter weekend but perhaps disappointed not to have put the Warriors to the sword. A number of bombed tries and a late consolation try to Kevin Brown gave the scoreline for the home team some respectability.
Wigan are now an alarming five points adrift at the foot of the engage Super League table after their ninth defeat from the opening 10 games. Quins now have a five point break on Wigan and could push to mid table come the close of round nine.
Half-back Luke Dorn led Quins charge and found his way over after just three minutes of play.
Five minutes later Matthew Gafa rounded off a lovely move to cross in the cormer only to then leave the game through injury and not return.
Luke Dorn, who looked in fine touch, went in again after fifteen minutes with Quins scoring at more than a point a minute for the opening quarter.
The spree was haulted momentarily when former Londoner Dennis Moran crossed in the corner and, with Tickle unable to convert, Quins led 16-4.
Rikki Shefiffe, playing his first game in eight weeks after a back injury at Odsal, was next over for Quins, and for the visitors everything they touched seemed to turn to gold.
Jordon James gave Wigan some hope of recovery as the break approached but a try by powerhouse prop David Mills on the stroke of half time put the game all but out of reach for the cherry and whites.
Quins began the second half just as they had finsihed the first and when Joe Mbu dislodged a ball early in Wigan's first set of six after the break, it led to a try by centre Tyrone Smith just two minutes after resumption.
Although presented with several second half try scoring opportunities, that would be the last point scored by Harlequins.
Wigan found themselves with five 'repeat sets' on the Quins line but were unable to penetrate the visitors tenacious scrambling defence.
Fifteen minutes into the second half Wigan captain Sean O'Loughlin found his way to the line after a long range break and that would be the last point scored by either side for the next twenty minutes.
Those who joined the 'Wigan walk' would have missed the final try of the day scored by Kevin Brown as final hooter sounded.
