Source: www.bradfordbulls.co.ukBradford Bulls ignored the speculation surrounding the future of coach Brian Noble to produce a high quality performance during a 52-18 win over Huddersfield Giants at Odsal.
Bradford scored nine tries in total, including two late on for winger Lesley Vainikolo, on a night when Paul Deacon became the most prolific goal kicker in club history.
Terry Newton returned to action after serving a seven-month ban, and made up for lost time by scoring one and creating two tries during the opening 20 minutes.
The Giants kept the game competitive, scoring three tries of their own, but were never able to gain enough possession to threaten a shock result.
Newton got the opening try after just ten minutes into his Bradford debut, the hooker collected the ball at dummy half and stormed through a gaping hole from 15 metres out.
The former Wigan man then turned provider as Bradford added two quick tries in the 16th and 19th minutes.
Fit-again Paul Johnson crossed from close range after Marcus Bai flicked the ball out just prior to being dragged into touch, and then Deacon scored after Newton created the opening with a dummy run that eliminated Eorl Crabtree from the defensive line.
Huddersfield, who have not beaten Bradford in any competition since 1980, were in danger of capitulating but instead struck back with two tries during their best period of the match.
The introduction of replacement Brad Drew sparked Jon Sharp's side into action, the Australian first act was to sell Karl Pryce a dummy before releasing Chris Thorman for a sprint to the line.
The deficit was then reduced to just 16-12 after 36 minutes when Chris Nero collected a deflected kick on the last tackle and dived over, with Thorman adding the extras.
But the momentum swung back to Bradford when they got their fourth try just prior to half-time. The ball was moved quickly form left to right and Bai then took advantage of some weak tackling to get across the whitewash.
Scrum-half Deacon's third conversion gave the Bulls a 22-12 half-time lead.
The home side added another five tries during a more one-sided second period, man-of-the-match Stuart Fielden getting his name on the score sheet with a charging run from close range on 42 minutes.
Braford were completely dominating possession by this stage as their powerful forwards worked Huddersfield into the ground.
The points continued to flow, Shontayne Hape getting the try-of-the-game after Deacon collected Pryce's accurate kick ahead and then worked the opening for Hape to step inside past two defenders on his way to the line.
The visitors kept things respectable with their third try as the impressive Drew started and finished a move from within his own half.
But the game had gone by that stage and Bradford scored three more times in the final quarter-of-an-hour.
Pryce touched down under pressure in the left corner, before Vainikolo put some gloss on the score with a pair of close range finishes late on.
Deacon added eight conversions from nine attempts during the match to pass Keith Mumby as the club's record goal kicker with 780.
