Sharp pleased with gutsy Hull FC victory Tue August 15, 2006 Source: www.hullfc.com
Hull FC picked up two crucial points as Motu Tony, Shayne McMenemy, Graeme Horne and Shaun Briscoe all touched down and Sharp admitted that the win comes with a huge reward for his side - a four point cushion between themselves and third-placed Leeds.
Sharp said: "I'm very pleased with that. I thought it was a particularly gutsy win against a tough side at what is a tough place to play. I'm very happy, particularly with a great first half.
"The first 20 minutes was as good as I have seen. We put them under pressure, got some repeat sets and played some footy in front of them. It was pleasing.
"It was a vital win as well because it gives us a four point break and it's now in our hands.
"We control our own destiny as far as where we finish in the competition. It's a nice position to be in."
Sharp also felt the scoreline could have been greater had centre Richard Whiting not failed to convert a try scoring opportunity midway through the second half.
He was held up in goal by Stephen Wild, an act which was followed by two Huddersfield tries before Briscoe's late effort.
"I don't know what he (Whiting) was trying to do," said Sharp.
"He tried to palm the guy off rather than putting the ball down but in saying that the Giants are a tough footy side who are getting ready for a big game in two weeks so I thought they played all right as well."
