REDCLIFFE coach Anthony Griffin has paid tribute to warhorses Troy Lindsay and Adam Starr, after the veteran pair went above the call of duty in Sundays 48-30 win against Norths at Dolphin Oval.

Having absorbed significant punishment in the mid-week Queensland Residents match, both Lindsay and Starr were set to be rested for the tough hit-out against the Devils.

Yet both fronted in boots and jerseys at 3pm on Sunday, helping the Dolphins build a 22-0 advantage in just 20 minutes, setting the platform for victory.

They were both desperate to play, Griffin explained.

Im very proud of them. They are such good clubmen. Both carried niggling injuries into the game, but they didnt want to let anyone down by not being there.

They set an example to everyone of how you put the club before the individual if you want to succeed.

Lindsay may have paid a costly price for his heroics however, with concerns about the state of a shoulder injury. His woes add to a possible hamstring injury for half Marty Turner, who has only just returned from a lengthy layoff.

Turner was replaced 15 minutes from fulltime by Griffin, with the Dolphins scoring two quick tries in succession around the same point in time to seal the result.

We played very well with the football in the opening period probably our best patch of play all year, Griffin said.

But it kind of knocked the intensity out of the match and it became a pretty loose old day. We fell into the trap of waiting for the fulltime siren.

From 22-0 up, Redcliffe went into halftime ahead 36-12 and appeared set for a similar score to the 64-26 pasting it handed Norths back in April.

The Devils had different ideas though and the Nundah natives scored the next three tries after halftime to trail by only 36-26. Unfortunately for them that was to be as close as they got all afternoon.

Aside from Lindsay and Starr, others to shine for Redcliffe were Michael Roberts and Danny Burke, while for the defeated Devils new faces Jeff Lima and Matthew Bartlett again impressed. Experienced NRL forward Jamie Feeney was among the tryscorers for Norths.

Round 17 has Redcliffe hosting Wynnum Manly at Dolphin Oval on Saturday, while Norths has the bye.

REDCLIFFE 48 (Michael Roberts, Troy Lindsay, Greg Bourke, Nick Emmett, Damien Jentz, Kaine Manihera, Gerard Parle, Ryan Cullen, Adam Starr tries; Gerard Parle 6 goals) d NORTHS 30 (Steve Franciscus 2, Jamie Feeney, Sam Tagataese, Aaron Bulow, Isaac Kaufmann tries; Jackson Nicolau 3 goals) at Dolphin Oval.
