Weyman facing two match suspension Mon June 11, 2007 Canberra forward Michael Weyman is expected to be suspended for two matches after being charged with a grade three careless high tackle today.
Weyman had an interesting match against Parramatta last Saturday night where he was involved in several incidents including performing a high tackle on Eels forward Josh Cordoba, which left Cordoba heavily concussed and unable to continue in the match.
Parramatta coach Michael Hagan after the match slammed referee Jared Maxwell for failing to send off Weyman after Sonny Bill Williams and Michael Crockett had been sent off this season for similar high tackle offences.
Canberra produced one of their finest performances walloping an inform and shell shocked Eels 38-10 with an impressive 24 point blitz in the opening 12 minutes where Parramatta hardly touched the ball in what was sheer perfect football. However, it wasn't a happy night for Weyman with the high tackle offence and he also came off a distant second best in a fight with Parramatta hooker Mark Riddell where Weyman ran a mile to throw punches only to to be hammered by Riddell.
It's likely that Weyman will take the early guilty plea resulting in a two match ban rather than contest the charge and risk being outed for three weeks.
