Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs forward Sonny Bill Williams has been cited by the NRL match review committee with a Grade 2 Striking charge arising out of Friday's loss to the Cowboys.
The charge carries a base penalty of 225 points. In addition, a 20% loading will be applied for a prior non-similar offence (56 points), plus 62 carry over points ? 332 points in total (3 game suspension).
If Williams elects to take an early guilty plea the base penalty plus loading is discounted by 25% and would total 202 points, plus the 62 carry-over points ? 264 points in total (2 game suspension).
The Bulldogs have until midday tomorrow to notify the NRL of their intention to either accept an early guilty plea or fight the charge or grading.
Bulldogs forward Reni Maitua was not charged despite being placed on report.

The final round before the finals series of season 2007 had the crowd on the edge of their seats as the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys held on to win a try fest 38-32 against the Bulldogs at Dairy Farmers stadium.
For 64 minutes the Cowboys reigned supreme, going to the half time break leading 20-10 and piling on the points mid way through the second half to hold a 38-10 lead before the Bulldogs fought back with a vengeance in the final stages. Four unanswered Bulldog tries in the space of 12 minutes had the North Queensland fans fearing the worst, but the Cowboys defence held on to deny the barnstorming Bulldog's finish.
Ty Williams scored the first two tries of the match after brilliant lead up work by Johnathon Thurston and Ashley Graham followed by Ben Farrar's first try which came just 2 minutes before the end of the first half after superb lead up work by Ray Cashmere.
The Cowboys went to the break confident and started the second half the same way. The Bulldogs showed how tenacious they are and how dangerous any side can be in this competition leading into the finals.
Three players scored two tries, Ben Farrar, Ty Williams and the Bulldogs Luke Patten while Cowboys Captain Johnathon Thurston had a superb night with the boot, landing 7 goals from 7 attempts.
This victory, in front of 24,050 fans was a fitting tribute for Paul Bowman, celebrating his 200th match for the club, while the clubs younger recruits, Matt Bartlett and Ben Farrar both had fine games with one tackle by Matt Bartlett a standout ending a certain try scoring opportunity for the Bulldogs with 12 minutes to go.
