Chester Hill edge out The Entrance in Jim Beam Cup thriller
Tue April 3, 2007
Source: Chester Hill Rhinos

The Chester Hill Rhinos hosted The Entrance Tigers last Friday night at the Terry Lamb Complex. Both teams having recorded wins the previous week in Round 1.

The Rhinos had the better of the earlier part of the game running to an early 14-6 lead. However, some excellent play by The Entrance saw them bounce back to lead 18-14. The Rhinos than scored prior to half time to lock up the scores 18-all at the break.

Determined play by the Tigers early in the second half saw them take a 24-18 lead. The turning point came midway through the season half when the Chester Hill attacker was tackled without the ball when in position to score resulting in a Tigers player being sent to the sin bin for ten minutes. From the ensuing tap the Rhinos scored a converted try to level up the scores.

Soon after the Rhinos scored a great team try covering 80m to jump out to a 30-24 lead. A try to the Tigers, which was unconverted saw the scores at 30-28 Chester Hill's way with plenty of time left on the clock.

Great defence by the Rhinos saw them hang on for a plucky 30-28 win. In a great team performance Wayne Beh, David Thompson, Matt Lamb, Saia Makisi, John Berkley and Matt Habojan all had excellent games.

Next week the Rhinos are again at home hosting Wentworthville on Thursday evening, 5th April with kick off at 7:30pm.
