Jones inspires Catalans to victory over Hull KR

Stacey Jones inspired Catalans Dragons to their fourth straight win with a 34-20 success over a lacklustre Hull Kingston Rovers side at Craven Park.

Jones was one of six tryscorers on the day the French side broke into the top six of engage Super League for the first time.

The Dragons dominated for the majority of the game and it was only in the final 10 minutes of both halves that Rovers came to life.

Catalans' handling was much better than the home side's and they thoroughly deserved their second successive win on English soil with a spirited performance.

Jason Croker opened the scoring after just four minutes, turning Ben Cockayne's error in the in-goal area into four points. Thomas Bosc added the extras.

The Dragons were celebrating again midway through the half when Dimitri Pelo squeezed over the line in the left-hand corner despite the attention of Gareth Morton.

Rovers perhaps had one eye on Easter Monday's derby fixture with Hull FC, and it took them a good half-hour to get going.

In the final minutes of the first half, they had erased the 10-0 deficit thanks mainly to Stanley Gene.

The Papua New Guinean scored a fine try and set another up for Byron Ford, Morton adding one of his two goal attempts.

Mick Potter's side started the second period strongly and within seven minutes they had regained the lead, which they never surrendered.

Jones picked out Vincent Duport with a superb chip over the top to score an easy try.

Clint Greenshields added another score six minutes later following Casey McGuire's kick to the corner - Pelo kept the ball in play superbly, allowing the full-back to score from close range.

Kane Bentley capped his engage Super League debut with a try which was deserved for his support of his team-mates.

The game was well and truly gone for Rovers but man-of-the-match Jones provided the death knell with a great solo try from an attacking scrum.

Bosc was on target with all but one of his kicks.

Trailing 34-10, Rovers brought some respectability to the scoreboard with a couple of late scores.

Scott Murrell backed himself to score from close range in the 70th minute and Luke Dyer squeezed over in the final seconds, with Morton again adding one of the two goals.
