Great Britain centre Keith Senior bagged the 200th try of his career as Leeds Rhinos moved back joint top of the engage Super League with victory over Warrington Wolves.
Injury-hit Warrington trailed only 12-10 until just before the break but the Rhinos ran out comfortable winners, romping over for nine tries, eight converted by skipper Kevin Sinfield.
Warrington welcomed back Ben Westwood from a two-match suspension but were missing Paul Johnson, Michael Sullivan, Chris Bridge, Chris Leikvoll, Adrian Morley, Rob Parker, Paul Wood and their inspirational captain Lee Briers.
The Wolves handed 21-year old Anthony Jerram his debut with teenagers Ben Harrison, Chris Riley and Mike Cooper in their depleted line-up.
Leeds were without Ali Lauitiiti, injured in Tuesday's last-gasp home defeat by Wigan Warriors and dropped ex-New Zealand Test centre Clinton Toopi for the first time.
But Warrington's enthusiasm earned them the opening try after 16 minutes when Jon Clarke and Martin Gleeson combined for Westwood to mark his return to go over and then land the touchline conversion for good measure.
Leeds, after their slow start, began to make inroads into the Wolves defence and drew level after half an hour with Sinfield's pass enabling Gareth Ellis to brush off Stuart Reardon.
Danny McGuire was then surprisingly caught by Henry Fa'afili before the pressure told with Toopi, who had replaced Matt Diskin, firing his side ahead in the 35th minute.
Toopi collected McGuire's smart pass with Sinfield booting the goal but Warrington's effort was rewarded with a Brent Grose try just before the break.
Substitute Riley's burst set up the platform for Vinnie Anderson's cross-field kick to be tapped back by Richie Barnett for Grose to score.
But Leeds still managed to lead 18-10 at the break with Senior shrugging off Paul Rauhihi and McGuire scooting clear to send Scott Donald over.
The first half effort clearly took its toll on Warrington who were ripped apart after the break.
Senior swept through Reardon's tackle almost straight from the restart for his landmark try with Sinfield booting the conversion.
Rob Burrow and Jamie Thackray added further touchdowns to stretch the lead to 36-10 after 54 minutes.
Brent Webb and McGuire piled on the agony for Warrington who then had a Grose try disallowed for a forward pass by Barnett.
Leeds refused to take their foot off the pedal with Jamie Thackray's break allowing Burrow to race onto McGuire's kick for his second try to make it 52-10 five minutes from time.
Headingley Insight: Leeds v Warrington Fri April 13, 2007 Source: www.leedsrugby.com
In this weeks edition of Headingley Carnegie Insight, Leeds coach Tony Smith looks ahead to this Sunday's clash with Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, kick off 3pm.
HOW HAVE THE TEAM REACTED TO TUESDAY'S DEFEAT? The players were obviously hurt by losing by such a narrow scoreline against Wigan and they were disappointed and suffered for it for a day or two. It's important though not to focus on the defeat too much and we now need to move on and look ahead to the next game. The team have worked extremely hard and are now very keen to put things right against Warrington.
HOW HAVE PREPARATIONS GONE THIS WEEK? Not too bad, aside from the disruption of losing Ali Lauitiiti due to injury this week. This time of year is very busy with a quick turnaround between the games, which can pose a number of challenges for the players. It's not ideal and I'm sure the players will be looking forward to getting through this period, but you can't complain because it's the same for every other team in the league.
HOW HIGHLY DO YOU RATE WARRINGTON? Warrington are an extremely dangerous side, particularly on their home ground. They are a formidable team who have a number of quality players in their side with a lot of depth throughout and they will provide tough opposition for us on Sunday. Recently they have had some injuries within their squad, but they are still able to put out a strong side with a number of well known players.
SMITH NAMES 20-MAN SQUAD Tony Smith has named his 20 man squad ahead of the Rhinos' game against Warrington at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday 15th April, KO 3pm. Danny Williams will come into the 20 in place of Ali Lauitiiti, who suffered a medial ligament strain in his knee this week. Danny, who was awarded the number 19 shirt at the start of the year after a superb debut campaign in 2006, is yet to have appeared for the side this season. Apart from Lauitiiti the same side who played against Wigan on Tuesday have been named, with Lee Smith, Carl Ablett and Jordan Tansey all coming into the 20 man squad.
The squad in full is:
1. Brent Webb 2. Scott Donald 3. Clinton Toopi 4. Keith Senior 5. Lee Smith 6. Danny McGuire 7. Rob Burrow 8. Kylie Leuluai 9. Matt Diskin 10. Jamie Peacock 11. Jamie Jones-Buchanan 12. Gareth Ellis 13. Kevin Sinfield (c) 15. Jamie Thackray 16. Ryan Bailey 18. Ian Kirke 19. Danny Williams 20. Ashley Gibson 22. Carl Ablett 23. Jordan Tansey
