Preston Campbell Injury from City v Country clash
Fri May 4, 2007
Source: www.titans.com.au

Jetstar Gold Coast Titans fullback and inaugural signing Preston Campbell has been sidelined for between 4-6 weeks after injuring his knee during last night's City v Country Origin clash at BCU International stadium in Coffs Harbour. City won the clash 12-6.

Fears that Campbell had suffered damage to his Posterior Cruciate ligament in his left knee were confirmed when the Country representative visited Jetstar Titans Doctor Paul Ohmeson this afternoon.

While the injury does not require surgery, Campbell will have an MRI scan tomorrow in Brisbane and will wear a brace for the next two weeks before commencing rehabilitation.

Former England fullback Richie Mathers will make his NRL debut for the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans against the North Queensland Cowboys on Monday night.

TEAM LISTS
Both City and Country origin teams have added an 18th man to their squads, to cover for any possible injuries.

Country has opted for Canberra Raiders captain Alan Tongue. Tongue is one of the hardest working players in Rugby League, and was considered by many as unlucky to miss out on selection in the original squad.

A workhorse, Tongue topped the tackle count last year and is third on the Top tacklers list this season with only Cameron Smith and Dallas Johnson ahead of him.

City have taken a different approach and named veteran Melbourne Storm winger Matt Geyer as their extra man. Geyer has played a bit of five eighth and centre of late, giving City a versatile back to come into the squad if needed.
