Kimmorley to miss 6-8 weeks Fri July 6, 2007 Source: www.sharks.com.au
Scan results yesterday revealed that Sharks captain Brett Kimmorley is now looking at a conservative 6-8 weeks on the sideline following his knee injury in State of Origin 3 on Wednesday night.
Results revealed that Kimmorely has sustained a grade 3 medial ligament tear together with 1.5cm of bone bruising in his right knee.
Kimmorley injury was sustained when Queensland forward Steve Price crashed into the half back legs while attempting to charge down a Kimmorley kick during the first half of Wednesday's Origin match.
Although a conservative 6-8 on the sideline has been estimated, it is possible that a specialist appointment next week could see this term lengthen.
Melbourne Storm star Greg Inglis has been cleared of any major knee damage after injury forced him from the ground in the first half of last night's third State-of-Origin game at Suncorp Stadium.
After returning to Melbourne from Brisbane this afternoon, Inglis was taken for an immediate MRI scan.
Storm Performance Unit Manager Mary Toomey believes Inglis will be back in action very soon.
"The MRI scan showed Greg hasn't sustained any major structural damage in his knee," said Toomey.
"Our doctors will take a look at him tomorrow, where he will be put on a rehabilitation program which should get him back onto the field and playing again as soon as possible.
"How long that will be we're not sure, but it should be sooner rather than later."
